are u serious?? nicks and cruz are flat out better that holmes and edwards. we have no idea about kerley but he does appear to be a keeper.

i do agree with the eli>>>>>sanchez thing though i would give it only three >'s as opposed to five.

I'd be shocked if the Jets didn't at least talk to Braylon Edwards about coming back. He's spent the last year eating humble pie since turning down a Jets offer that, while we don't know what was offered, was obviously much more than anybody else offered, and with good reason. Edwards had good chemistry with Sanchez. Bringing him back might help normalize the offensive chemistry. I'd like to say the same for Cotchery, but somehow I got the impression that he really cut the cord when he left, and wouldn't be willing to return.

Beyond that. Manningham has always had shaky hands, his incredible game in the Super Bowl notwithstanding; he's going to get overpaid. Somebody mentioned Nick Toon, he's probably a third or fourth round pick with some upside who would fit in well here, and obviously has roots here. With Kerley onboard and Edwards or some other free agent likely to be the second starter, a middle round pick on a WR with eventual starting talent would be great.

I'd also point out that Wes Welker is a free agent. He and Rex have a good relationship, and obviously the Jets front office would love the chance to stick it to the Patriots. I wouldn't quite call it likely or sensible, but it would be interesting. Tough as nails and super productive is exactly what this team needs to add to put Santonio Holmes in his place.

    Exactly

You know what's ironic we replaced him with a guy who spent 2 years in jail. How can you get rid of him because of his off field issues then turn around and sign a guy who had been out of jail for 2 months.

It still blows my mind that people act like letting Edwards go was some kind of fatal mistake.

Plax wasn't great but his production absolutely blew Braylon's out of the water. He was garbage in San Francisco.

Get Braylon back! He is the best choice baring a stud is available in the draft. Familiarity will help Sanchez and the depth players we have will suffice. We desperately need to improve the O line and defensive side of the ball. We scare no one right now and that is one of our key defensive properties we possessed in the first two years of Rex's tenure. The O line was a Major reasons Sanchez had success in his first two years when he would use the play action to bail us out or the run game gave us the cushion that offset one of Sanchez bad games. This year we were not Good on the line and Sanchez could not be counted on to win one on his own.

Manningham reminds me a lot of Cotchery. I'd love for the Jets to sign him. Kerley and Manningham as #2 and #3 receivers along with Holmes would be a nice combo, and we know Manningham isn't going to break the bank. We missed a 3rd down go to guy like him this year, although part of me would rather sign a deep threat. We could always get both if the price is right or adjust via the draft.

Braylon was injured this year. What a terrible argument. Compare Plax this year with Braylon last season and you'll see who had better production on the team. Plax was too slow to be a deep threat and the only catches he made were pretty much jump balls in the endzone that he was fortunately enough to come down with. He couldn't get separation at all and was non existent besides in the red zone.

I am a big fan of Cotchery, but he's slow. Slow isn't going to get it done. He's a great possession guy but the Jets need more than that.

Braylons entire game is predicated on speed. There's no telling atm if he maintained that speed after his knee surgery

I'd pass on manningham. There are wr's in this draft that can be better than him from day 1, and they'll cost a lot less

No. He isn't that good and will want too much money. The Jets simply don't have much cap space with which to pursue FAs. The top priority in FA must be signing a S, hopefully a RT (if not, a 2nd safety), and a backup QB unless the Jets plan on drafting one. A TE who can both block and catch should be the next priority. RB, WR, and anything else will have to wait. The only possible exception I'd make to that is if Braylon is willing to come back for a reasonable amount and the Jets can still sign a S and RT.

Manningham is a great slot WR type player but we already have Kerley.

We need to either get a WR in the draft or in FA. IMO we need to increase the depth at WR big time to get Mark back on track.

So lets see, even in his best year Edwards had how many td's?

Lets compare that to Plax, granted he is slow as shit but who picks up his red zone production? Keller, hell no, Edwards hell no.

Lets be real, resign Plax on the cheap, resign Edwards if healthy. Draft a wideout this year and let Plax ride off into the sunset next year.

It still blows my mind that people are so stupid as to not understand why we let him go despite it having been explained countless times in really small words.

    So you're assuming that

    a) Braylon wouldn't have gotten hurt if he were on the Jets

    b) Although Braylon was completely useless after coming back from his injury this year, if the Jets sign him now the fact that he blew out his knee will be irrelevant.

Edwards got run out of town in Cleveland, the Jets made no serious effort to resign him after his contract was up here, and the 49ers cut him 2 weeks before the playoffs started this year. Yet some people still think that he's the solution to our problems. Unreal.

Edwards was very good for us. That's why people want him back. He'll be cheap, and he'll be healthy. Braylon-Tone-Kerely-Turner-Keller(TE)? Sign me up for that

Edwards was good for us, but there's a reason that the Jets didn't even try to bring him back. The coaches clearly don't want him here.

And you have no basis to claim that he'll be healthy from here on out. It's not like he'd be the first speed player to have his career messed up by a knee injury.

Who is going to replace Plax's red zone production then?

"Here's an idea, Mr. Johnson. We don't need Braylon here 'cause PLAXICO is available and he will replace him EASILY. What do you think?"

Then please enlighten us, Mr. Bean.

Tell us these "really small words" as to why he was let go and please provide links, proof, and all that when you do. [IMG]

'Blow out his knee?' Is that the technical term? Or are there specific ligaments you would like to mention, and specifically divulge knowledge to describe the damage to those ligaments?

Because, to date, I have not seen a report that details the specifics of Braylon's knee injury. Even vague details. So, a generally alarmist description like 'blew out his knee' would tend more to manipulate than to support.
