Instead of looking at guys we can add or draft, I was thinking who are some of the guys that are already on the team/ps that might be a solid candidate to become a big time contributor next year. Powell/Mcknight have both been pretty disappointing Vlads been useless Eron Riley is a guy that alot of people were excited about adding Ricky Sapp is a guy that many wanted to draft before his injury woes Maybin obviously if he bulks up could be a complete godsend. It was really me wondering what was going on with Ricky Sapp that got me to think about this, but there are plenty of guys on the roster who have some big potential
Funny thing is I didnt even think of Kerley when I made this. Because in my mind the guy is already there
Damn right although to be fair he wasnt active early in the season, had no off-season with the team at all, and missed several weeks while injured. But I guess when Plax and nottryingHolmes are the only other recievers, it makes you look really really good
Is that the Guy who played on the Dolphins and Muffed a tackle and watched Welker run away from the ground?
Thats Benny Sapp Ricky Sapp is a DE/OLB who was supposed to be a good pass rusher, but has been plagued by injuries (think he spent his first year or 2 on IR), and then spent last year on our practice squad. Hes yet to play in an nfl game
Look, I'm not trying to hate on the Kerley's year, he certainly showed promise. But if you think he's proven he is an NFL quality receiver, you're just chugging kool-aid.
It would be nice if Powell showed something (anything) to justify his selection. I expect more from McKnight in the offense this season. I am cautiously optimistic about Vlad under Sparano and the new OL coach. I am more hopeful about Erron Riley than any other young Jets player not named Kendric Ellis or Jeff Cumberland. He has great hands, speed and height. He hasn't really had a chance in the NFL. If he can develop, he could be the Jets' answer at WR. The Jets really need for Ellis to develop in a hurry, especially if Pouha doesn't come back. Ellis could be a beast against both the run and the pass if he develops. It would be nice for Tevaseau to develop into a solid backup I don't have much hope that Maybin will become any better than he already is. He may learn some pass rushing moves, but don't know if he can keep weight on and become an all-round OLB. I know little about Sapp, but am not holding out much hope for him. I think Wilkerson will definite get better and better, as will Kerley. I'd love for Kyle Wilson to develop to the point that the Jets could consider moving Cromartie after this season. I think Jamaal Westermann has probably reached hi potential. I don't think Patrick Turner has much of a ceiling. It would be nice if Schlauderaf develops into at least a solid backup, but believe he is too small (302 lbs), so the 6th that the Jets gave up for him is probably wasted. I think McElroy will develop into a solid backup unless he proves to be as injury-prone as the last weak-armed QB the Jets drafted. It would be nice if Nick Bellore could develop into Scott's replacement, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Being the leading tackler on STs and a decent backup is enough. Taylor Boggs C (285 lbs) is too light.
Maybe the same size and maybe Riley is a bit faster but their skill levels are on two completely different ends of the spectrum. I wouldnt expect much from Riley at all, even if he puts up solid numbers in the preseason, he has never really faced a high level of competition in his football career. It would be nice to have someone come out of nowhere like Victor Cruz but I think players like Maybin, Kerley, Dixon, or McKnight would be much better candidates to breakout.
