Orton won games in Chicago and they traded him away for another QB. He won games at the start in Denver and then they couldn't win for their life with him at QB and gave up on him after his coach got fired. Drafting TIm Tebow in the 1st round was giving up on Kyle Orton. When one team gives up on a somewhat successful QB it could be just preference. When two teams have done that it's a real indicator that something is not right with that QB. No NFL team gives up on a successful QB. It just doesn't happen. The fact that orton is likely to be working on his 4th team in 8 years next year should tell you something about him.
Oakland was Rich Gannon's 4th team. I don't think Orton was every brought in anywhere to start he ended up starting because the teams kind of needed to throw him in.
You lost all credibility first saying that Kansas City, who merely took Orton at the tale end of his expiring contract, "showed the door" to Orton, and then failed to respond when I pointed out the absurdity of your position. I also pointed out Chicago tried to get him back. No answer to that, either. I also happen to think Cutler is a very good Qb. Perhaps you do not. The fact is that Chicago's FO, and apparently not CS, felt that they preferred Cutler. Who was available. That doesn't mean that Chicago didn't like Orton. They just liked Cutler more. By your logic Denver's FO "gave up" on Cutler. By your logic, Denver got rid of a very good Qb to get Orton, because they "preferred" him. By your logic the fact that Orton was injured had no involvement in Denver's decision to start Tebow. And neither does Tebow's rabid and basically non-football based perspective on him. Seriously, your post was so flawed by a lack of cred, it's one of your worst posts ever.
He would not compete for a starting job here. He would come here for a chance to win and play for a good team if mark Sanchez gets hurt. We aren't looking for a starter or someone to compete w/ our starter- we are looking for a quality backup that ca play if Sanchez gets hurt.
If its just about getting a backup then I sat we stay with Mcilroy..he is a smart game manager that knows how to win ..he looked good before getting hurt..I say save the cap space for someone else
If I remember correctly, Campbell was actually having success with the Raiders before he got injured. I would definitely sign him over Chad Henne. Henne never had any really success as a starter, Campbell can actually push Sanchez and maybe take the job.
The title under your username and your signature don't seem to match up ... lol I would imagine Campbell would be expensive.
Br4dw4y's comment below says a lot to me: Not that I think Gruden is such an amazing coach, but he was the right coach with the right scheme for a 3-time loser like Gannon. Would Sparano be the right OC for Orton, though?
This guy would not beat out Sanchez for the starting a job, nor do the Jets want somebody to compete with Sanchez. If they don't sign Manning, Sanchez is the starter. That being said, I'd much rather have him as Sanchez's backup than Henne. Might as well give up if Henne ever sees the field.
Meh, at least Henne knows the speed of the game. I'd feel more comfortable with him under center than I would with McIlroy (essentially a 7th round rookie) or than I ever did with Old Man Brunell.
