I'd like to know the last team to actually average 15 pass attempts per game. My guess is you'd have to go back to the 60's to find them.
Mario Williams is a top 5 DE in the league. If he wasn't injured last year he was on pace for 16. However, he's been put on IR two years in a row. Healthy... he's a beast, maybe the cool air of Buffalo will be like an icepack compared to the humidity of Houston.
I was close. The 1973 Bills were the last team to average as few as 15 (15.21) pass attempts/game. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categoryst...efensiveStatisticCategory=null&qualified=true They finished 9-5 which put them at 2nd in the AFCE behind the Dolphins.
LT must have misspoke, there's no way we're only throwing 15 times a game winning or losing. If that's the game we play, this will be Sanchez's last year with the Jets. There's no way we pay him the money he is making to throw 15 times, and unless we plan on platooning in 3 RB's, Greene is not going to handle the load himself. Despite what the coaches are saying, I think we pass as much or more than last season.
I liked LT as a Jet but don't like how he has become so vocal since the team decided not to bring him back....LT you played well for us in your role here, but #1 you were here for 2 years, and #2 you really are a Charger at the end of the day...so kindly shut up and stay retired. He's just stirring the pot and he has reeked of sour grapes since he was let go.
I'm on the Record as saying it comes as no surprise why he came so cheaply from the Steelers. He was probably a mal-content in the locker room and talked a lot of shit unnecessarily. He will do the same here , but will produce as all diva's do because they are actually on a Job interview during the season for other teams. Unless he is being portrayed unfairly he wont make it to another extension with the New york Jets. I just hope he understands the short time he is given and puts on his big boy pants!! LT can go Fuck himself and all of his After the fact comments today and when he becomes an analyst for Fox or some other network.

He will probably do the same with us and will produce because that's what Me players do. they produce and then demand the ball rightfully so , but there's a proper way to do it! I about tired of LT and the after the fact revelations he keeps having and Will not respect him even when he's a Fox analyst:chargers:
A lot of you seem transfixed with the number 15 LT threw out, I think he just means if little prince Holmes isn't getting as many passes as he wants he'll cry and stamp his feet. With the way our offense is shaping up this has a good chance to be reality. I am curious to see how the coaching staff handles it.
Honestly I think this is being overblown (and a lot of the Santonio shit). If I was a receiver in the NFL and could do dynamic things with the ball in my hand I would want the ball in my hands. Its not a crazy concept... You WANT to be involved in the game. I mean if you are winning, you have to be alright with it; but if your not winning games and not getting the ball, who isnt going to say something and be like “I want the ball in my hands, it will help the team win.” Do you think Jerry Rice didnt let it be known that he wanted the ball in his hands?
no, LT did not say this was just about Holmes not getting enough passes. LT's position was based on the idea that Sporano's offense might not throw the ball enough, and thus it would reduce Holme's opportunities significantly and cause him to complain. his point was based on the concept of Sporano's offense and minimal passes per game, so nobody is getting fixated on that number and ignoring his point because that number is the basis of his point. he is not saying at all that Holmes is simply going to cry if he doesn't get enough balls thrown to him, he is saying specifically Sporano's offense may cause Holmes not to have many opportunities. not sure how you missed that.
You're probably right but it's not a big stretch. The Jets were at 15 or less 4 times and 20 or less 11 times last season. Could be around 15 completions per game more often than not if the passing attempts do in fact go down. The 49ers averaged about 17 completions per game in a run heavy offense last season, but that's with a quarterback who completes a higher percentage of his passes than Sanchez or Tebow.
There's no question that if the Jets go the path that the Chargers and Steelers used in stabilizing their young QB's the # of passes completed next year will go down some. If they do what the Giants did with Eli Manning the # of passes will stay the same or even go up a little and Sanchez will have about the same year next year that he had last year. Eli Manning had a worse 4th year than his 3rd year but it all worked out because the Giants won the super Bowl. If Sanchez throws 23 TD's and 20 Int's next year the Jets better win the Super Bowl in the process or he's going to get run out of town. That's what would have happened to Eli if the Giants went 9-7 and no playoffs his fourth year when he threw 23 TD's and 20 Int's after being moderately disappointing his first three seasons.
