I disagree -- Jones had exceptional field vision which allowed him to find the hole despite his limited size (and speed, by the end of his Jets career.) Greene is the opposite: he's physically punishing, but he has no creativity and limited awareness (which is one of the reasons that he's a liability as a pass blocker.) Look, it would be great if Shonn Greene turned into Michael Turner overnight, but it's not gonna happen. Greene is a hard runner who makes a great change of pace back. But it's pretty obvious that he's not a suitable #1 for a rush-first offense.
Bingo, was about to reply to this post similarly, that Jones' vision is or was faaaar superior to Greene's. Greene basically has no vision. Its pretty bad.... and vision is one of the most underrated qualities in a RB. He is not physically dominating. He's not fast, not agile and to top it off, he's not that powerful. If he had good vision, it could definitely cover up most of that and he could be a good RB, but the lack of vision really brings out his flaws even more,
I dunno, I remember a lot of the same complaints about TJ. "2 yards and a cloud of dust" "he falls down on first contact" "does he have any moves?" I think 'vision' can be applied to having wider holes with good to great run blocking lineman in front of him. It's easy to see where to go if the hole is 4 feet wide. He ran behind Faneca and Woody, not Slauson and Howard. Also a younger Brandon Moore. I think the talent is more or less equal between TJ and Greene. The real concern for me is how is this just now dawning on him? "Oh if I move my hips/head/shoulders instead of lowering and plowing into the guy's chest, I can get more yards." Dude, come on. There's a time and a place for lowering the hammer, and I appreciate his willingness and efficacy in that role. But seriously...every little kid with a football in the backyard knows to do something besides run forward to get more yards. Sheer brilliance, Lynn and Greene.
What the hell is juking going to do for Shonn Greene, he has no foot speed or quickness to start with?
Dumb question, the game isn't being shown where I live and I'm out with the family, is Greene not producing or is it the offensive line not punching any holes?
Well that explains him not following his fukin Blocks today... Had Blockers in front and ran the opposite way twice...wtf?
