His ability to cover is priceless with the league's trend towards TE play. Doesn't help solve our pass rush needs though.

Hypothetically I'd take Jarvis over Jordan.

Hes an OLB...that can cover slot receivers, and TEs hardly one trick.

Trade down, grab Warmack who will slip like guards always do. Nab a second rounder next year with the trade down.

    This is my ideal scenario.

Jordan at nine would make me happy.

Jets need a dance partner to trade down.

If the pass rushers are off the board & most likely the top 2 LT are off the board, which prospect is good enough to force teams to move up? Only way I can see Jets able to trade down is if Millner or Star drops to their slot.

I've said it for a while now, I think we are gonna take Jarvis Jones. I can easily see him falling to 9 considering his pre combine health issue. Even though he was cleared, teams will still be leery of taking him. Jarvis Jones could be scary under Rex :)

Jarvis Jones would be a really solid pick. I'd be happy if Jets walked away with him as 1st selection.

We should (fingers crossed) get a shot at either Jones or Jordan, in that order, and either of which would make me very happy. Out of curiosity, has anyone seen stats related to how often the players rush the QB vs drop into coverage? I searched the Google but came up empty. It seems like Jordan was used in coverage more than Jones but I haven't been able to find any splits.

On a side note, since Jordan is a converted TE, maybe we can use him as a red zone TE to solve 2 problems (see 1:15).

This would be great, but there is no chance in hell Jordan drops to #9.

It just ain't happening. He will be taken in the top 5. Jarvis Jones is a much more realistic option.

Not too long ago, people were saying the exact opposite. A lot of people thought 9 would be a reach for Dion Jordan...

My point is, this can all change so quickly. The draft is still a month away and a lot can change between now and then. No one knows who and who won't will be available when the Jets pick in the draft

Jarvis Jones was labeled higher before his prognosis of the spine injury. After that and him not partakig in the combine, his draft stock dropped dramatically. I agree, anything can happen in a month, but I just don't see Jordan falling past 5. No way. There are a set of guys that you know will go in the first 5 picks and he is one of them.

If Jordan and Jarvis are there when we are OTC, who would you take?

My relative excitement about picking a guy at #9, among those who have a realistic shot at being there:

    Ecstatic - Jones
    Happy - Smith, Ansah, Jordan
    Meh - Warmack, Johnson, Lotulelei
Disappointed - Moore, Patterson, Werner, Vacarro
    Apoplectic - Mingo

Well I'm pretty sure he isn't going in the top 2 picks, and there are 8 total picks before us.
I think we can expect Geno Smith, Luke Joekel, and Eric Fischer all to go before Jordan. That leaves 5 other picks, and I have to be honest I wouldn't be surprised to see EJ Manuel grabbed by the Bills when Geno Smith is grabbed by the Cardinals. The Bills have Mario Williams to play their pass-rush OLB, and although that really isn't his ideal position, I'm not sure if they are able to cut him next year without cap implications. I expect this to make an OLB selection from them unlikely. Even if they are high on Nassib for later, I think they will probably take either Milliner or Patterson over Jones or Jordan. The Eagles might take Jordan, but I think the connection between him and Chip Kelly might be a bit over emphasized, since they focus on opposite sides of the ball. Not to mention their secondary needs after losing Nnamdi and Rogers-Cromartie. They also might not be able to resist Sharrif Floyd with Cullen Jenkins leaving town. The Lions need a pass rusher but there are some DE's ranked above Jordan that have some more bulk, and they may not be as high on him as we are for that reason. There is still a strong chance Lutoleilei may medically check out as well, so I'm not saying I expect him to be there when we pick, but there is a better chance than many people think. Jarvis Jones would be worth the 9th pick if he checks out, and while I'd prefer Jordan without question, Jones would still make me happy.

This all comes down to what teams get scared and pull the trigger on a QB. If only Smith is a top ten pick its very likely that all three of Ansah, Jones, and Jordan are gone. If a team falls in love with Lane Johnson one of the could slip down to us. If a guy like Barkley or Manual sneeks into the top 8 then we will have a shot at one of them.

Jockel, Fisher, Floyd and Smith are basically the locks to go before us as non edge rushers. Guys like Milliner and Lotulelie have the talent to as well but as less sure things in the top ten. Patterson is a long shot for it as well. If none of the fringe top ten guys go we are in tough position.

Mocks change a lot this time of year based on people watching more film of guys specific guys instead of watching games and seeing who sticks out. TE combine and pro days not only give the physical show, but allow reporters to get a better feel of how scouts and GMs feel about players.

I like Jordan as a player, but realize he is not ready to start the majority of snaps. He really needs to add a good 15 to 20 pounds of muscle to his frame to be an every down OLB in Rex's D. He and Ansah have all the potential in the world be need work. Jarvis Jones would be ideal, but I see him as the first edge rusher off the board with the latest reports on his neck.

Jordan because we play against Gronkowski 2 times a year then Phillip Thomas in the 2nd Round after signing Bernard Pollard

    Wilkerson-Ellis-Coples
    Jordan-Davis-Harris-Barnes
    Revis-Pollard-Thomas-Cromartie

Jarvis Jones also needs more muscle

He can be our Clay Matthews if he can get a little more stronger unless he plays WOLB which I doubt he does

The guy we should be rooting for is Moore, he had more solo tackles than Jordan had combined, for all the supposed coverage ability Jordan has he has no interceptions, Moore has one under his belt, and Moore has more forced fumbles than Jordan, and Moore already has the size to come in and play.

I don't understand all this hype about a player who produced so little, I think he will be a project especially with his need for bulking up. We don't need a situational player with the #9 pick.

If he does fall to the Jets I'm very skeptical about him, I hope I'm wrong.
