The opponents are determined by your record the previous season ... no one is trying to give the jets a more difficult schedule.

Only 2 opponents are determined based on your schedule. The rest are set in stone in a cycle.

You play an AFC division, a NFC division, 6 games within your division, and then a team that finished in your spot in the remaining 2 AFC divisions. For example, you finish 1st in the AFC East, you play the 1st place teams in the other AFC divisions.

The only thing scheduling wise that could be argued is when the NFL schedules you for a Sunday night game then a Thurs day night game. Things like that are head scratching, but the actual teams are set in stone. That could change I guess if they go to 18 games

My response assumed the rest of that was already known, probably a bad assumption.

    My bad haha.

It would be fun to see Milliner and Cro vs Julio and Roddy White. See how they stack up against a good WR/QB combo in ATL

I'd be more concerned with how whoever our safeties and linebackers are handle that offense. We know we have good corners. Gonzalez might eat our lunch that day. If our all 1st round d-line can make noise we may have a really good shot.

i don't think this game is totally out of the question. that defense in atlanta isn't that great and if you pressure matt ryan he's extremely vulnerable.

something that might be interesting is putting dee milliner on julio jones. they must of been on alabama together at one point so im sure they've played against eachother. i wonder if dee knows his tendencies. also really, if our offense just doesn't turn the ball over this could be a legit game

Maybe Sanchez will be hurt and we will have a good shot.

To be fair, Revis wasn't on the Bucs at the time of the schedule making.

Probably to get a primetime game in before were out of the hunt. We'll probably keep a close game because Rex Ryan > Mike Smith.

I think we are gonna have a better team than people except but Atlanta is one of our most unwinnable games IMO. I would give us <10% chance of winning that one

I think the NFL wants to knock Atlanta down a peg and putting them on MNF against the only team in the league who can beat them like a red headed stepchild is one way to do it.

I'm sure Falcon Fans are PISSSSSED!

I will say this: If we beat Atlanta, that may be our biggest upset of the season (Bigger than beating the Patriots/Saints/Pittsburgh).

ABC hedging bets we'll be a sleeper team.

Yep, our D was great up until winning time when they allowed Atl to march right down the field and score the GW TD. You guys know games are 60 mins long, right? a D can play incredible football for 59 mins but if they blow it in the end it wasn't a great game.

MNF football isn't on ABC, it's on ESPN and they usually give them the crappier matchups. SNF gets the better matchups.

Really? NFL does not single out the Jets with a particular schedule. NYJ is playing the AFC North and NFC South. Same as MIA, BUF and NE. Plus the six games against those three, they get the other two AFC teams that sucked as much as them in their divisions.

As to who plays when, well maybe you have an argument, but scheduling a league ain't easy and Jets share a stadium, causing its own logistical problems.

MNF, I believe, gets 4th choice for picking games.

For better or worse, the Jets are a nationally relevant team, even when we suck. Who did you want to play on MNF, the Bills? Nobody would watch that.

People will watch MNF because it's MNF. The Jets are relevant. The Falcons are relevant. It's early enough in the season where it will matter to both teams for sure.

If the offense isn't terrible, the Jets offense could actually match up fairly well against the Falcons if Milliner is the real deal.
