I like what I've seen from Geno so far. Yeah he threw a couple picks, but he's looked good in my eyes.

Those who think that the Jets are committed to playing Geno, no matter how much he stinks up the place, better realize that the Jets, like any other NFL team, have they're priorities in order to win first.

Like i have stated before, if Geno is thrown to the wolves too early, you will see many of those same stinkers as we have witness on Thursday against quality opponents. If the Pats receivers hadn't dropped so many balls , it would not have been close.

That being said, Simms should be given an opportunity to see what he can do, and if he can be an 'off the bench' catalyst to help in winning, so be it.

Frankly, I don't care who they bring in as long as it results in a 'W'.

Who did he talk to, must be some guy by the water cooler, cause all summer it was Geno, Geno and more Geno, I don't believe that there is any talk what so ever to see Simms play any meaningful minutes unless Geno is hurt, this would mean be trouble for upper management that not only some of their free agents signings are questionable now the draft picks of Geno and Millner are also questionable

The Jets D has scary good potential to help us win now. I think the organization is fed up with turnovers period. Sanchez burnt a lot of bridges and Geno probably won't get as many chances as Sanchez did. If the fans start to turn on Geno, and sales dip on Sundays, I could see Simms getting the nod. It would be a huge media event and after all our owner has said that's the business the Jets are in, the media business. I guess we'll have to wait and see...

Lol, Aikman and Manning were the first overall picks in their respective draft classes, universally acknowledged as future franchise QBs and stars.

Geno may pan out, but he wasn't even the first QB taken in a weak QB draft class.

Ok so that just proves you really should give him the benefit of the doubt... Dude is 2 games in..

Geno would have to be absolutely horrendous to be benched, IMO, as it should be with a rookie QB. You can't give the nod to a rookie QB with a questionable receiving corps only to bench him when he inevitably struggles.

No, it just means that you give the benefit of the doubt to guys looked at as generational type players- Aikman, Manning, Luck.

Guys like Geno have to show something to earn that benefit, like Russell Wilson did last year.

I'm not down on him like some here, I was at Gillette Thursday night and I think given the conditions he played pretty well, but if he's still turning the ball over 6-7 games in, this league is about winning and they'll put Simms in and draft a QB in round 1 next year.

Who cares where he was taken? Most of the best QBs in the league now weren't the #1 pick in the draft. A lot of them weren't the first QBs taken in the draft. A lot of them weren't top 10 picks. And a lot of them weren't first round picks.

IMO, Geno has showed in the 2 games that he's started, that he can be a good QB in this league. Only time will tell.

You missed the context of the conversation. It was suggested that Geno get the "benefit of the doubt" like Aikman and Manning did.

I was merely pointing out that the scenarios aren't analogous.

Of course it doesn't matter where he was drafted, he may end up to be a stud.

    Or he may not.

But this franchise isn't going to give Geno the leeway it would have had it been Aikman, Manning or a guy like Luck.

They're less invested in Geno, being a 2nd rounder and given the new rookie pay scale.

I saw some good things too, doesn't mean he's not our Jimmy Clausen if we're staring down at Bridgewater next year.

Did you not see the title of the thread?

We're not playing till next Sunday, why not discuss it?

Better than discussing how Vlad would fare against Jenkins.

why??? because he was picked in the 2nd rd & the other guy is just a UDFA??? It's OBVIOUS Matt Simms has the skills to play, he outplayed both Sanchez & the genome in preseason & if he's outplaying him in practice then why not start the better player, again why???

I've known Matt since he was in the 3rd grade- I like the kid, I just can't see that the team looks at him as anything other than a backup. JMHO.
