Offense -Oline to give consistent protection -Geno to have a string of really good games to end the season -Powell and Ivory to consistently run the ball well -Skill position players to remain healthy and step up Defense -Coples to give this defense a dimension they haven't had all year with consistent pressure on the outside. -Wilkerson, Harrison and Richardson to continue doing what they're doing. -The secondary to step up and stop giving up big plays -Milliner to have a good 2nd half.
The continued maturing of Geno, We will also get some players back and I think that will help Geno in many ways. I look for the continued health of our Defense Line and steady improvement from Milliner. Allan is proving to be quite a safety for us. Id like to see us sign a punter who can give is field position consistently and lots of hang time. id like to see Rex extended and MM extended for a long time! Id like to see IDZIK get lots of credit for the street pickups he signed and how well they have contributed. CRIBBS is a weapon for us going forward!
Turnover differential Consistency Fewer penalties committed If we play smarter and continue to consistently put in the effort good things will happen.
Getting Healthy! But I think this bye week is perfect for Geno. I believe starting in Buffalo, with all of our weapons back, Geno will begin to thrive and put together some good games.
Time of Possession is key to the Jets success... We need the ball 40 minutes a game.. Give our defensive guys a rest and keep them strong. O-Line and D-Line dominance.. Game is won in the trenches.. If this D-Line plays like they did yesterday the rest of the year, we are going to be hard to beat. More fumbles and INT from the defense.. Looked like they regained that swagger yesterday.. Lets keep it going. Penalties are a serious issue with this team... 10 men on the field.. 12 men on the field.. Its every game.. That shit needs to stop.
1) More interceptions from the secondary. Its not like the balls are not coming their way. Yesterday, there was one play where the ball was near Walls, and it just went passed him. 2) Progression from Milliner. I'm not asking for a stellar 2nd half. I just want Milliner to progress from week to week. 3) I would like Geno's INT's to reduce.
Offense: Not much really. With all the injuries, it's tough to ask much of them. I just want to see Geno to continue to develop. No bad mistakes. I know people are flipping out over his completion percentage yesterday, but receivers were never open. A couple times he threw at the feet of a receiver on a screen and people went nuts. Maybe they saw something different from me, but I saw receivers who were four yards behind the line of scrimmage who would have been tackled for losses. He made the throws that were there. That's what matters. He didn't try to force BS (Except for that one throw into triple coverage). Defense: This is where I'm looking to see improvements. Cro needs to get his act together or we'll be looking for a replacement in a hurry. Wilson or Milliner (More likely) needs to step up. Milliner definitely showed some improvement against a tough Saints pass-happy offense. Even saved Cro when he got beat deep. I want to see Coples continue to be a force to reckon with. He was constantly pressuring Brees and it was effective. Need better pass coverage from the LBs. They are doing great against the run but LBs are key to stopping short patterns.
fundamentally sound, competitive football. There will be times where the lack of talent/experience will show, but if the cutdown the turnovers and penalties this team will at least make the end of the season interesting.
the jets need to see emergence of some of those under the radar players that will provide depth and possibly even go after a starting spot or 2. we saw some of these guys yesterday on offense (nelson, salas) and defense (t. smith, jarrett). we have been razor thin for years at many positins and to c an actual surplus of talent at more than 1 position will put the team in a great spot going into the offseason. with regards to the QB, IMO, its still a big ?? - we all have seen good things from smith - but hell the bills and bucs have seen some good things from EJ manual and mike glennon - so there is no separation there. the microscope for the rookie here is more magnified so everything smith does is discussed. what we are seeing, at least in some games this year, is a building of a team from the inside out - IMO the right way. take care of your off and def lines and the rest will fall into place. thats why every off season some of us scream about OL and DL in the draft. this is where it starts. period. i hope they caontinue the pattern and all things will follow.
I'm looking for continuing evidence that this coaching staff and front office might finally be a long-term answer. Idzik, in a cap purge year, has made some solid scrap-heap hunting moves to fill hole after hole, and Rex continues to get the best out of every would-be reject that Idzik can find. Our top 4 receivers yesterday were all in-season pickups. Salas? Who??? Enough of the talk that Idzik can't wait to fire Rex. Not only do I think he can't, but at this point I think he's happy as hell he couldn't. In the conversation for Coach/Executive of the Year right now, and I'm hoping the miracles keep coming.
What I look forward to the 2nd half of the season: Thanksgiving and Christmas. The release of Xbox 1. Crab and Salmon season. The Jets backing into the playoffs through wild and unpredictable skampism. Santonio Holmes returning and not dividing the locker room.
Is Smith a legit option at QB or are they going to draft a new one to compete next year. Be honest can you sit back and say you see smith as anything more than an average at best rook with 8 TD and 13 INTs through 9 games? Nothing is screaming franchise QB - hell he isn't even a decent game manager at this point. At best he is a cheap young backup qb for the next 4 years unless he really develops over the last 7 weeks. QB heavy draft they needs to be right about Geno by the end of the season.
You've got to be kidding. After his first 9 games, where he won 5 of them and 4 of them were won with game winning drives FROM THE ROOKIE QB, you're ready to write him off already? When he's playing without any NFL starting caliber WRs and all of his healthy WRs were basically lifted from the NFL scrap heap? I don't know if Geno's the long term answer yet. I don't think anyone can actually know that yet. But you'd have to say that he's shown enough that he could be the answer, especially with an actual NFL offensive coordinator in the mix.
