Any idea who would take the prize this year? In the Jets thread saw some people mentioning that Wilk has a shot, which got me thinking: who really is in the running this year? There doesn't seem to be a clear front-runner like there was last year, unless it's escaping me at the moment.

    Possible Candidates:

    -Wilkerson (Jets)
    -Quinn (Rams)
    -Kuechly (Panthers)
    -Sherman (Seahawks)
    -Tamba Hali (Chiefs)

    I'm sure i'm missing some.

I agree, could be anyone this year. A few more candidates.

    Deandre Levy...95 tackles, 6 interceptions
Kiko Alonso 112 tackles, 4 interceptions, 2 sacks, 1 FF
    Robert Mathis 14.5 sacks

None of those players really stand out to me. Is there someone we're forgetting? JJ Watt maybe?

Well Kuechly seems like the guy in the clear lead. Mainly because of how good the Panthers D has been.

Doubt he gets it 2 years in a row. Being on what will probably be a 3-13 team doesn't help either. Kuechly has been a consistent animal year and helped that defense be one of the best in the league this year.

If the Cards somehow beat out the 49ers for the 5 or 6 seed Calias Campbell might get some attention. His stats don't scream out at you but he is having a big impact on one of the better defensive teams in the league.
