You all know that I'm one of Leon's biggest supporters, but right now, I think that he should be weaned into being more configured into the offense. If I ever was going to have one thing that was negative to say about Leon it would be that he did fumble the ball a couple times!

My contention is the obvious, if he gets more carries, the chances of that fumble happening like any other player increases. I believe that he has gotten over that patch in his playing career, but I want to see him in there, not exactly slowly but surely but certainly not just thrown onto the scene.

However, that is just me speaking! Leon is a heck of a competitor and I know how he wants the ball all day everyday. I remember watching the Colts game and seeing the coaching staff give him the ball time after time and thinking to myself, "He's not going to get tired". The reason for my optimism goes as follows: I used to watch him practice in high school and his coach used to work on drills that gave hime the ball like 12 straight times with the players knowing what play it was; mind you, that was a team that ended the regular season 10-0 and the season 11-1. Also, the demonic heat that he had practiced in Tallahassee is conducive to long grueling practices which prepare you for all out efforts in games.

    Any thoughts?

I'd rather see cedric in provided he is healthy. If cedric cant go then leon should definately get the start. He reminds me of curtis in that he is a small shift back. And i think he can be very valuable in the receiving game.

I want to see a good dose of Leon, undoubtedly...however....i'd like to see at least half of his touches be short tosses out of the backfield...

as long as they're smart plays that don't set him up to get crushed, I think he can be more effective immediately this way. I feel that it will be a somewhat slower progression for Leon to become proficient in the backfield, getting used to running through NFL lines. But outside of that, he's doing what he seems to have been doing for a while, making people miss.

I would like to continue to see him used creatively.....we need to find a way to get him the ball in space and we won't do that throwing him in the middle of the jacksonville D may not be the way to go. Hopefully they continue the creativity.

maybe some quick screens? or some offtackle?

hell maybe even put him in the slot in a Trips formation and scheme routes to get him 1 on 1 with a LB.

theres plenty of ways to do it and im sure theyre gameplanning right now.

I'm sure the Jets will start Barlow next week. I wouldn't mind seeing Leon, but he's just not a big kid to be going against a team like JAX. I hope he gets a bunch of touches next week, seeing as he has speed and can get over the line for the 1st Down when we need it.

Really? i disagree, the best thing for us this week would be leon. We need someone with the speed to get to the edge because we want to avoid running up the middle.

He was our best runner yesterday...easily. Barlow was below average again, except inside the 5. But Leon is the guy i want carrying the ball going down the field. I thought he was great. He picked up some first downs and gave us 2nd and 5s instead of 2nd and 10s. Unless Cedy is ready for Jacksonville, I want Neon Leon to start and get 15-20 carries

i love this guy, he's fast and not afraid to take hits, next game i think he should start against the stingy jag defense, and if he can break a run, i dont think jag's LBs or secondary can stop him

He was good yesterday but he was not our best runner yesterday. Ced was. But Im glad Leon is here.

You're right about that. Before the draft, the Jags told Leon that they would take him because he was the type of player that fit what they liked to do. As it turned out, they took Maurice Jones-Drew in the second round.

I was with Leon on the first day of the draft and he was not too happy about all of those players who had gone ahead of him. The Jags taking a player that is almost identical to him was something that burned him. Also, Tony Dungy told him that he was very intersted in him coming to Indy, that's why I thought that if the Jets did not get him, Indy would have in the 4th round.

I like Leon this week, I think if we can get him to the edge, he can do great things. maybe suck the LBs outside after a while and then hit Baker over ther middle. He brings a great skill set and is definitely an asset to this team.

On a side note, on Miller's return for a TD, didnt it seem like Leon was slowing down to not run Miller over down the stretch. They are both REALLY fast, but it seemed like Leon had a higher top end.

Leon never loses yardage, he's always get something extra. I would save Barlow for the end zone runs where his bulk may help.

Leon needs to get the ball 15 or 20 times a game, with about half being passes. He's nifty.

Leon definately excites the fans. Mixing it up with these 3 guys will hopefully work out.

Has anyone noticed that we never run to the outside? It always seems up the middle.
