Well, you said it yourself. Five straight years of drafting for the D. OMG. What are our options? Go for Best Off player available IMO. Better yet get a QB even if we have one from FA. Who is in better shape on the whole?? O or D? It's just common sense we have overloaded picks on one side of the ball ( mainly due to Rex but Boles won't be that selfish) No offense to the Defensive fans out there, but you can get the popcorn ready during the Season to see the Jets D on the field all day if your Offense scores 3 field goals. Six defensive stops and two goal line stands. Wow, now that's my idea of a great game! P.S. We lose 30-16
The Jets aren't going after Mariota in the 1st round. Even if Mariota is there and there's no trade offers....they will pass on Mariota.
There has been beat writer reports that the Jets aren't sold on Mariota. they would want someone else.
I voted Fowler but I have a feeling that we trade out of the #6 spot but not necessarily with Philly but I'm very hopeful. We need a trade partner to get what we need in the draft but lets see how FA pans out. I still think we need to draft a WR with the first pick even with Marshall aboard. White, Cooper, Strong would be great. FA will give us a luxury in the draft. The needs are plenty, G's, OLB, CB, FS, RB and depends on FA. I believe in Geno but we can also draft a mid round QB
While not probable, unless they take Fowler, I'd still rather have White or Cooper over any of the other OLB available to us at 6. Marshall is really a one year tryout for us since his salary is no longer guaranteed after this year. He can be cut or traded easily next season with no cap ramifications. Plus a WR core of Marshall, Decker, Cooper/White, and Kerley with Jace at TE would possibly give us a top 5 pass catching core. It would leave Geno/whoever no excuses. That excites me more then any of the OLB. Take Eli Harold in round 2 and instant draft win for us
Update, we need FS, RB and OLB Can you Imagine what Big Mac will do in the Draft? He's the most Intelligent GM we ever had BTW the way FA is shaping up it's beginning to look like we will have a lot of Teams looking to trade up, we don't need Philly, now we get the "Best Deal" available
Assuming Mariota is off the board, I would go OLB or WR. With Decker/Marshall/Kerley for 2 years, that gives us a chance to draft a WR high and not put any pressure on him. In a couple years, Marshall will be gone and it would be nice for a top flight talent to be able to step in. OLB and FS are the only missing pieces on this defense right now. I actually think Coples could be that guy, but I'm not sure yet. If he was used strictly in a pass rushing fashion, I think he could definitely be a double digit sack guy, especially with our CB's now. In the case that we're going with Coples at OLB I would try and draft: 1. Kevin White 2. Gerod Holliman 3. Bryce Petty/Paul Dawson 4.Paul Dawson/Bryce Petty Edit: Didn't even read the thread title. If it was a defensive player, I'd pick Fowler.
Fowler is a Freak and we do need someone who has the speed to get around the corner and this dude can do it. Yeah he will be gone but if he is there at 6 ( As Much As Taking D Player Kills Me ) I say will pull the trigger and get him
Thing is..FA answered the Call beyond my wildest dreams and the Worst possible Nightmare for opponents DRAFT!!!!! DAMNNNNNN.... Just IMAGINE!!!!! Cooper, Fowler or anyone we choose...teams want that #6 spot Trust me!!!
voted fowler since he is my bpa at 6 , assuming he is gone no other OLB is worth the 6th pick in my opinion not even gregory.
