Very good BallHawk. Plus it was fan revolt that got Idik out of here, so yes, it some times pays to question the master. If we didn't question authority, what would be the point of TGG? But then there's this: Never question the Master!
Where in the CFL? He's not on any NFL team that I can find. Actually, the day of the draft before the first round started it was said that 20 GMs had gone on record that there was no way they woulkd take Gholston in the first round but that didn't stop the dumbasses here from loving him and the pick when the Jets made it. I suppose it wouldn't matter if he was taken in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or whatever he would still be out of football now.
To me the answer is simple. Everyone makes mistakes, you, me, the president of the U.S., your favorite religious leader, your doctor, dentist, lawyer, judge, the NFL commish and every single swinging dick GM and HC in the NFL. The BIGGEST difference however is that people that are damned good at their jobs distinguish themselves AND make things better in the long run because they do a hell of a lot right and very little wrong. People that are not so good, or way over their heads ( enter many previous NYJ GM here) are a liability that fosters mediocrity, can literally sink your ship, or your country, your life, your career, or your favorite team. Mac so far has shown to me that he has done plenty of things right, at least that is the way it appears to someone like me with very limited knowledge of what really goes on behind close doors. The trade down for draft picks that included getting Posey, is arguably good or bad depending of what Mac intentions were. Who knows, all I can recall, that just last week many on this board thought Posey might have cemented a spot so there where different opinions until the final cuts. I have to say I commend Mac for admitting that Posey was not better than the competition, and letting him go instead of using the homer approach to management and keeping him because it was "his boy" I'm sure that as Mac continues to grow he will take chances, some calculated risks than pan out and some that don't, as well as making a few flat out mistakes along the way. But if his overall body of work continues along this path we might have found us a true leader. If us TGG fans agree to disagree over a marginal player on a trade down versus past discussions about a first or second round major bust or reach we are truly in great shape. Now, if he decided to bring Tebow back my whole argument would just go to hell in flames. Go Jets.
How do you google Ronald Martin and then come up with a picture of this Bill Dance guy? I haven't figured that one out yet.
Everything is based on wins and losses, right now he is 0-0 and can do things as he sees right. If the record goes negative he may change that approach and if it goes positive he can continue as he thinks he should.
You are right....at the end of the day success is measured by wins and losses, playoff appearances and SB wins. All else be damned.
It's actually sad people are composing entire paragraphs over this roster move. Guys...this guy doesn't matter and neither did Miles. Maybe if Pryor or Gilchrist gets hurt, but otherwise...just sad
Ok, I tried to read all of this five different times. I failed. If I had known you were planning on doing this rah-rah speech over this miniscule topic, we would've saved you some time and told you this isn't the place for that. Not yet man, not yet. If Mac and Bowles give Geno Smith a huge contract extension, you know, something crazy that has potential future consequence for this team. That's when you lose your mind, until then, stay calm my friend. Stay calm.
Only the good part. Like when he started kicking everybody's ass for no reason, dating all these hot chicks. Hollywood ruined me.
Not just a #1 pick but a top 10 pick.......awful just awful. And the worst part is it was obvious at the time we drafted him that this was gonna be a issue with the injurys.Waste of a roster spot
The problem is that the best guy should make the team. Granted certain variables are at play as well, such as upside, depth at position or whatever. However, I don't feel this is one of those cases and it hurts the credibility of the coach IMO. By this logic Fitzpatrick could be on fire and lose his job when geno comes back just because...... This shit is why so many gm's suck. For the most part whatever slogan they are pushing amounts to nothing more than bullshit.
OMG It's a backup who got cut... Why are people so dramatic? Miles has been on our practice squad the past two seasons. There is a reason for this. You would think if he was so good, he would've managed to lock down a roster spot with either of these coaching schemes. He has two chances to be a guy who could contribute to this team. Neither coaching regime thought he was good enough to make the cut. This doesn't reflect poorly on the coaches or GM at all. If anything It only reaffirmed concerns I have for this fan base.
how come Rex Ryan didn't pick up Rontez Miles off the waiver wire? dude is going right back onto the practice squad.
