I was going to add that in to my post but I wanted to keep it tight. He does have the same no nonsense thing going but he's not riding herd the way Parcells was. There's room to slip up but then you are going to have to listen to the earful you get afterwards.

Or being the asshole Parcells was, but of course, that was part of or the reason for his snideness and sarcasm.

He will remind me of Parcells after he wins a couple of superbowls,

the truth is assholes exist on a spectrum. The determining factor where an asshole goes is effectiveness. There are few things worse than an asshole who is ineffective, meaning an asshole for the sake of being an asshole and nothing else. Then closer to the middle are assholes who are effective, but for things or people you don't like. Like Belichuk and Brady*. Then there are assholes who are effective about things you do like. They are almost likeable.

Parcells was effective for a time leading the Jets. He was still an asshole. But he had some redeeming qualities.

This would be true if their job was to win games, their job is to win superbowls so im sure it wont be the same speach if they accomplish that.

I love his attitude and demeanor but his in game managing is starting to become worrisome. Bad challenges, poor clock management and questionable 4th down decisions. I hope this isn't a foreshadowing of things to come but rather an adjustment period for a first time head coach.

Still strong. Thanks for asking.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

The Jets are (4-3) coming off losses in New England and against a good, young Raiders team, both on the road. Yesterday was a complete mess of a game. Shouldn't change anyone's views on Bowles. Well, any smart person.

He has to do better at situational decision-making. Two weeks in a row he has appeared pretty clueless. Right now, it is probably fair to say that he is a good DC masquerading as a head coach, just like Rex.

    LOL

The guy goes into New England and almost beats the reigning champions and the best team in the league. He then has to travel across the entire country to beat a young and very talented Raiders team. Oh, and he doesn't have his starting center, his starting safety, and he loses his starting QB in the first drive. Now he needs to beat this team with Geno Smith at QB.

Yet you all want to bash him and scream out "Fire Bowles"? Give me a break. All of it just shows how idiotic some of our fans can be

I think Bowles just needs to slow down with the drastic week to week changes. Stick to what we do. Yesterday i seen wayy too much zone blitzing. This team sucks at zone coverage. We always have. Carr is a stud but goddamn the people he was throwing to was wide the hell open.

    Geno was playing qb

Losing by less than 28 with this twit under center classifies as a win for the head coach

He's a first year coach that isn't Parcells or Belichek and won't go 16-0. You need more reason to fire him?

I guess it's easy to sit on the couch and point out all the mistakes. But the lack of urgency in trying to complete a come back two weeks in a row is troubling. It's starting to make zero sense routinly punting the ball when you're down two scores with under 4 minutes left.

The part that bothers me is that the Raiders were spotting us numerous opportunities to make it a one score game and keep us within one bounce of being a drive away. They threw the ball twice and ran into a penalty giving us another opportunity to remain alive with 3:30 left when they easily could've brought the clock down to the 2 minute warning.

Everyone likes to look at the small picture without thinking about how it happened. If we did everything we could in running as many plays as possible and managed the clock correctly and still lost then you walk away saying you were the worse team on Sunday.

But we pissed away any opportunity to come back in that game with multiple stupid mistakes by the coaching staff and the quarterback combined with a piss poor performance by the defense. What a disappointing week of football.

Except it wasn't Geno that lost the game, it was the GREAT ALL WORLD D (supposed to be Bowles specialty too) which was straight garbage for the second straight week. The team gave zero effort and had zero urgency. All that IS on the coach.

All teams have injuries, NE had a pieced together O-Line during our game. And didn't' Bowles name Geno the starting before he took a right hook from IK? So why is Geno playing instead of Fitz now an issue?

I'm not for firing Bowles, but his clock management has been terrible, some decisions are head scratching, a draw on 3rd and 21 with 1 TO and down two TD's? The team wasn't ready to play at all and got exposed, he deserves some criticism IMO.

none of those things should prevent him from making smart, sound, in game coaching decisions.

Should he be bashed for losing to the patriots in foxborough? no.... but that doesnt mean he shouldnt be able to be criticized for not using his timeouts, not being more aggressice on 3rd and 17, make bad calls to challenge plays, etc.

should he be bashed for losing to the raiders in oakland? no.... but that doesnt me he shouldnt be criticized for not having the team ready to play, for mismanaging the clock late, for not going for it on 4th down late when we were down 2 scores, etc.

Also, there are other concerns. we have had a myriad of penalties on third down, and on special teams. that needs to be cleaned up. we have had a ton of fumbles this year, most of them on non-sacks and on plays down the field. that needs to be stressed and cleaned up. timeouts have been an issue. the defensive line is underperforming. and now recently the tackling has been sloppy.

lets also no forget, 2 of our 3 losses the game ended on a penalty, preventing us 1 last chance to tie/win the game. those need to be cleaned up

you can think bowles deserves criticism and is coaching scared at times without thinking he is an idiot who needs to be fired. i like bowles, but there are things he needs to really clean up
