2015 NFL Draft Grades: Evaluating Each Team's Rookie Class After One Season Link: http://thedraftwire.usatoday.com/20...ing-each-teams-rookie-class-after-one-season/ Cue the posts about how it somehow takes 4-8 years to evaluate drafted players: Please note that number is our slot in alphabetical order, it is not an evaluation. Only the grade (and comments) mean anything. 22. New York Jets Analysis: The Jets only had six picks in the 2015 draft, and while Leonard Williams has been very solid up front defensively, the rest of the class has been basically non-existent. Linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin and wide receiver Devin Smith were both slowed considerably by injuries (Smith currently on IR), and quarterback Bryce Petty is still waiting for his time to shine in New York. Grade: C
You're the dope that thinks the Jets should trade Mo and keep Cro at his current contract. The same dope that said Sheldon and Mo looked so good because of Snacks. Nothing you will ever say matters.
You should be careful because you may just get your wish. Perhaps we give Mo (and maybe Sheldon) big contracts while cutting Cromartie and letting Snacks walk. If our defense wasn't overpriced and over-rated now, just wait until you get your way.
Lol, you still trying to justify trading Mo? I don't know what your fascination with Cro is, but he's replaceable and so is Snacks.
When you have a guy like Marcus Williams on your roster, of course Cro is replaceable. Cro demands a lot of money and is rated one of the worst corners in the league. And our defense is overpriced because Mac had to make it overpriced. We had more money than God and had to spend it. He stole a number one receiver from Chicago and Decker was already signed to contract. We had an absolute ton of money to spend. Signing Revis and Skrine was a genius movie, in my opinion. Because of it, Pryor can now play his natural position and he's thriving like hell. Cromartie was a solid signing at the time because of his veteran locker room presence, his experience in Bowles system, and he was coming off an awesome year. He's easily replaceable now.
It's impossible to grade a class after 1 year. They gave the Dolphins a B while they gave us a C. Our rookies have been more productive.
I've been rather impressed with the way Mauldin has been playing this year. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
This idiot sounds like all he did was look up the stats for every rookie and then fart out some random grades based on the stats. We know what we have in our rookies, why listen to an "outsider" who probably hasn't even watched any Jets games, tell us how our guys are doing? Mauldin has been non-existent? He's by far our best edge rusher. Leonard is a DROY candidate. Petty was fully expected to redshirt this year. Harrison and Simon are development guys, late picks that will contribute next year. Even Devin showed promise late before he got injured after struggling early on.
Leonard Williams at # 6 was not a hard decision. The rest of our draft doesn't look all that special unless Petty turns into something really good. While our picks could become better a C might be a fair enough grade at this point. My problem with the graders this that they were very hard on players that got injured. Maudlin (for us) and Randy Gregory (for the Cowboys) were mentioned for their good play before they got hurt. Rather than give them credit for finding a player that could potentially help the team over the next decade, both teams got no credit for these players as they are not contributing at the moment.
Maudlin, could become the best pass-rusher from this class. Which is crazy considering there was Randy Gregory, Vic Beasley and Shane Ray all taken earlier. Yeah, they aren't going by potential or anything just how they produced this year. Which is why their grades for respective teams are outta wack. We got 2 studs, and the Fins got a B because Parker finally decided to make a play for the first time in his NFL career.
I've been pretty happy with this draft class. I think I haven't said that since we got Brick & Mangold. Leonard has been great, Smith looks like a player to me he gets open a lot. Mauldin looks to be a starter for the foreseeable future. But the real wildcard is Bryce. I've been his biggest fan on this board, so if my scouting abilities are correct, this will be the best jets draft in quite some time.
The only X factor for me from this draft will be Devin Smith. Liked 1st & 3rd rounders and based on who we were in terms of roster, - I liked the Petty pick. I firmly believe he will become an effective game managing QB.
It's hard to really judge the new regime on this draft as we still had our entire scouting staff in place from the old regime. Not surprising that they botched the Smith pick considering their history of picking WRs and TEs.
I disagree. Skrine and Cromartie have been two of the worst corners in football from an advanced stats perspective, and Revis hasn't been worth the money. He made two nice signings with Gilchrist and Carpenter, and of course Marshall.
I think the initial grade is fair, although you cannot really judge for a few years. I truly believe that Petty will not become anything more than a back up for a few seasons. Smith pick was a horrible pick, not Monday Morning QB-ing said it at the time. This draft will probably go down as no better than Idzik's first draft. You can call Richardson and Williams a wash, even though it will be hard to say right now he will be BETTER than Sheldon.
This is extremely pointless. You don't judge a rookie class 15 games in. That's a waste of bandwidth and it's not shocking that this guy would post an article this useless. Mauldin has been non-existent? That's all I needed to read. Moving on...
