If a season ticket holder were to refuse to renew his or her Jets season tickets for next year based upon the actions taken by management this season, is it right to question his or her fandom?
More season ticket holders should not renew next year if the FO keeps fucking up. Has absolutely zero to do with their level of fandom.
Absolutely not. That's a business decision, just like the one Woody makes in trotting out a shitty product, Bowles makes in starting Fitz every week, and the whole team makes when they don't give effort on the field.
How can you question a person's fandom if they dont want to invest in the team just like you are? its considered robbery when they steal your money and toss out Fitzpatrick when the team looks like trash.
I would not blame a season ticket holder for doing that. The Jets have ONE home win this year and it was the terrible Ravens game. The home product has been brutal this year, the road not much better. I think they can improve it with wins against the Colts, Dolphins, and Bills, but still. At best (4-4) at home this year, HIGHLY LIKELY worse (currently 1-4). This is why Woody is a moron. All you have to do is WIN. That's what fans want. Not big name Free Agents or high draft picks. Just win. Not rocket science.
The trouble is that the Jets are in the top 10 every year as far as most profitable NFL franchises. He doesn't have to care about the fans. http://www.forbes.com/nfl-valuations/list/
I think Woody cares, just hasn't had much luck whith who he hires. He wants to win otherwise he wouldn't spend the money he does. He makes some bad decisions in the process
I do Why worry about what other people think. If you don't want to renew your season tickets, that's up to you. Don't let other voices decide who you are.
This is a pretty silly question. Who is one to tell another man or woman what to do with their hard earned money? And judge their fandom on it. Kinda dumb.
Giving up Season Tix can be hard and a very personal decision, but in no way indicates anyone's level of fandom. It was easy for me to give up my Jets seats as I was not forking out for a PSL, I had been a Carolina Hurricanes STH since 2003, I enjoyed in the ultimate season in 2006 when they won the Stanley Cup. Since then they have been to the playoffs 1 time in 10 years and no playoffs in the last 7. Finally I said enough is enough and fuck this and gave up my tickets this year. It wasn't easy as going to games has been something my family has always done. But, I am still a fan, and watching them play the Bruins right now.
I would consider said fan a frugal person that refuses to see his/her time, money or emotional investment go with out return. I'm not saying "don't rout for your team". But I'll put it this way, until all the gear I have is hobo level worn out, I won't be buying anything... And when I do it will more likely be from the clearance section unless there is visible improvement from this rotten iteration of "Gang Green". Edit: Just to be clear, no I don't think them any less of a fan. I've heard someone say "I used to be a Jets fan, but they suck". Now that is a different story.
Not at all IMO. Season tickets are a huge investment. Not only is it a monetary investment, but it's also a time investment and emotional investment. The way this season has gone I would expect many fans who currently have season tickets to give them up. I could see firing Bowles, bringing in a high profile QB (Romo, Cutler) as two reasons why some would renew their season tickets. Otherwise, Woody will surely see a decrease in those willing to renew their season tickets. At the end of the day you can't really begrudge someone for not renewing their season tickets. It's their money. IMO doesn't make them any more or less of a fan.
I've been selling and will sell the rest of my tickets this season. Haven't gone since the Ravens game; wasn't able to attend the Rams and have been in sell-mode since. Donating the Colts game because starting prices on SHub/Ticket Exchange are as low as $6 . Last year was my first year and the 6 of us guys had a blast. This year, obviously not so much. It's not worth the drive, tailgate setup, and traffic otw home to bother going the rest of the way in the cold. Even the Saturday night game which we were looking fwd to the most because there's no work the next day. We'll see how the offseason goes. I say that now, but I'm sure we will renew. But I hope we actually sit and think it over.
If a season ticket holder isn't a real fan because he/she gives up their season tickets, does that make people who never get tickets in the first place fake fans?
I am a fan. I will not buy next years season tickets. I will inoculate myself from being infected by the hype and promises that spew from the Jets marketing group every spring. I am still a Jet Fan...sadly
