BSPN is desperate for a story.
    Offseason, nothing to see here.

Like it or not, he's better than any quarterback play we've really had since Pennington (minus the anamoly that was Fitzpatrick in 2015).

He's likely not worth the trouble but he did have a 4-1 TD-INT ratio last year. He just doesn't complete a high enough percentage of passes in the modern day NFL to be a desired starter. And he'd get fried in the New York media market.

But I don't think he definitively sucks. The guy did go to a Super Bowl and lost on the final play. He was also 16/28 for 302 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 pick in said Super Bowl with an additional 62 yards/1 touchdown on the ground.

He has a worse reputation (because of his antics) than he should. He's an alright player.

Would take a look if we had a solid team besides QB that was ready to compete.

    We don't.

We're a young, rebuilding team that likely won't win many games so we need to just own it and give Hack/Petty/Draft Pick a shot and then go from there

Kaep or any other free agent QBs out there don't move the needle close enough to playoff contention....That being the case, they would hurt the franchise more than help it in the long run. Taking away development time for younger QBs and winning more games but not enough for the playoffs continues to kill this franchise

Anyone that has any clue about how the NFL works would agree here

All of these morons with their durrr Jets need a QB analysis without thinking big picture make me sick.....

Yep, exactly. We're obviously tearing down the entire roster. One of these free agent quarterbacks does nothing for us but take up cap space.

Cutler is likely the best one available and his better play could get us what? Two more wins? Greeeeat. So now we'll win 6 games instead of 4. Stupid. I really hope the Jets don't botch this situation by signing Cutler or an of these other goons to some $15 million/year salary.

All hope for Maccagnan will be out the door. Because as far as I'm concerned he's 0-2 in free agency periods. He might get the W this year if he continues to stay away from signing some obscene contract.

?????????????? Not true. Are you talking about the Super Bowl XLVII Kaep? Maybe but that was years ago. He is flat out terrible now. And comes with a lot of baggage. 2010 Sanchez was much better than current Kaep. 2015 Fitz as you said. 2008 Favre. Pretty much every Jets QB besides 2016 Fitz is just as good as the current Kaepernick. I might take Geno over him. Kind of a draw. And I think Geno is awful.

No doubt if winning the most games possible was the only goal I'd take Kaep over McCown and it's not even close

    Jets aren't in that situation

Best move for Macc and Bowles is a complete tear down and then just hope for improvement and maybe even some hope for the future if Hack, Petty, or a draft pick shows promise

Zero expectations and basically saying we're rebuilding the right way will give them a longer leash if the team shows promise for the future

Seems like they're going that way which is a good thing even though 2017 will be a long year

I say it would be a long year regardless so might as well bite the bullet

I'm not a fan of Kaep at all but I think you're wrong here

He played pretty decent last season on a God awful 49ers team

He had a 14-0/17-6 lead against a terrible Jets team at home and lost. I guess you could blame the team around him and play calling, but from what I saw: no thanks.

I'm not a fan but you can't ignore the stats

    16 TDs/4 INTs

    90 passer rating

    Decent on a horrible team

Yeah, those stats are surprising actually with the record the 49ers had. I guess it is hard to truly evaluate him from last year. A fresh start could do him well. As you guys already said: not on this current Jets team though. Maybe Houston/Denver will give him a chance. Whichever doesn't get Romo.

I am really excited to watch Hack and Petty pass for us this season. Our home grown young guns, drafted here and both chomping at the bit. Sound the horn and pull the gate open, let them fly out onto the tundra.

The ONLY QB on the vet market that I would embrace having here next season is kap. How the competition part works out between the tree of them, we'll see. They can figure out an 'arrangement where the guy who comes in 3rd place ships his wife / gf / sister over to the other 2 to have there way with them for the weekend. A reward kind of.

Kap, Petty, and Hack would be good friends, support each other, laugh a lot in training camp, and give us fans something fun to watch unfold.

Go get him Macc and DON'T mess this up like you messed up the Snacks contract.....Oh jesus lordy do NOT mess it up that badly

Come now let have some fun this season!

    I hope we sign Kaep.

He would be the perfect catalyst for Woody to sell the team.
