He doesn't get a pass and concern is warranted, but let's not crucify him just yet. He needs to take this as a final warning and sort himself out. It's pointless to speculate on what could have happened and what led to it. If there's a charge then we can do that. Until that point he's just been a 22 yo doing what they do and being helped out by his buddy when he's got a little out of line.
Do you seriously think this will warrant a 2 game suspension? No arrest, no summons issued even. No physical contact that we know of, keep in mind there was nothing on the video only one guy saying he manhandled the woman but we don't even see the woman so he couldn't have been that close to her. My guess is the team will talk to both of them and that will be the end of it.
I still say it is downright laughable the way society has been watered down due to social media and over reactions. I don't care about the NFL policy. 2 drunk people arguing passionately happens at countless bars every weekend. If Lee hit her, then I could see the crazy reactions, but a heated argument broken up before anything bad happens with no solid evidence of anything more should not ever be punished. We hold NFL athletes to high standards, but drunk people do stupid shit and young folks in their early 20s love to drink. You can't stop them from living their lives. It's not just the camera though. It's the level of scrutiny we have for people's actions and the level in which people are judged by the drama based media as a result. The media now actively follows people looking for problems. Rex Ryan can't even go on vacation without being filmed the whole time. The media only cares about gossip and drama now. Sports takes a back seat. The point is, nobody used to give 2 shits about athletes' off field activities, now we hold these guys to ridiculously high standards. No sir, I don't like it.
Myself like many here have made some serious mistakes, but I like many here, have walked away from many situations that potentially could have been disastrous. it's ok to get heated, we are human and no one is immune to those feelings. However it's not unrealistic or unreasonable to expect a young man who has been mentored by what many consider to be good HC at Ohio state and now the NFL to show a little better judgement in what could turn out to be a damaging situation. I hope nothing comes of this and it was just a disagreement between two adults, but as it has been mentioned this is now a second time for Lee, maybe he needs to stop bending the elbow if it's something he can't handle. I still think it's a good story for LW, it shows what type of young man he is.
I guess it's a good thing that lee hasn't gotten better at shedding off blocks. Probably a bad thing that our d-lineman did a better job at blocking a LB then our o-line does
Unfortunately these guys chose a profession where their public persona is part of their job. They have the right to a private life as well, but they play a game where they become know to the public, and they count on that public adoration to benefit financially when their jersey and their names are being sold. It can be done though, these guys can have the affection of the fans and live their lives, unfortunately all it takes is one bad step and a good reputation can be ruined. If you and I did something silly and caught on video, it would be on ridiculousness with Rob narrating the video and Chanel West Coast giggling her way through the show. These guys pay a more serious price.
I'll take your word for it, while I follow some college football, I don't have in depth knowledge of how some of these guys allow their players to act. Only team I remember being really crazy were the Jimmy Johnson Miami teams.
Well, we all know there aren't any saints on the roster. I doubt if there's any saints in the league at all so these kinds of incidents will happen on occasion. Big Cat was there and stepped into the leader role on the team by saving Lee from himself. Lee might want to take a hard look at his drinking issues as it seems he has a problem holding his liquor. I doubt if the Jets suspend him BUT, they should advise Lee to talk to a professional about his behavior issues while intoxicated. These guys are alpha males cold sober and have an expectation of adoration I would guess. If that doesn't happen, they don't understand why and if they're drunk, can't process that a woman could possibly reject them. We don't have all the details but we do have video and several accounts by people on the scene. Lee was so far wrong that Williams felt obligated to step up and step in. That young man is a leader and the Jets would be wise to make him a Capt. As we used to say: "better check yourself before you wreck yourself" Mr. Lee.
Lee is a 22 yr. old kid. Hopefully he learns sooner than later that the world of twitter, and available chicks, are territories to be tread lightly in. He doesn't need twitter and there's fine chicks to be had outside joints, and such. At least he was hangin' with a good guy, that's a good thing.
There were a lot of gators getting arrested during his tenure in Gainesville. urbans a good recruiter and x and o guy. Not sure he is the moral compass some of these guys need though.
You have a point. I remember reading that back when Mickey Mantle played for the Yankees that reporters would not report on incidents that he and other players were involved in. They would protect the players and the team. No more. Now they can't wait to find the dirt, and if they can't find any, they make shit up.
We don't have that QB in the locker room that the team rallys around....No coach can control the locker room on his own.We don't have many leaders period.
Update: According to TMZ this is the young lady Lee had been arguing with about coming back to his house. Lee was drunk and Leonard was cock blocking Lee as a friend. "He has to wake up in the morning and still live with himself" "I couldn't let him bring this home";
