Say what you want but the Packers are getting better. Sure, they are young. They have more rookies and first-year players on their roster than any team in football. Brett Favre seems energized being around this young talent, and there's a good chance he will come back for another year. But the Packers have to start reestablishing some sort of home-field advantage again in Lambeau Field. They are 1-4 in Lambeau this year. Teams no longer fear going there. With remaining home games against the Jets, Lions and Vikings, the Packers can put thoughts back in people's mind that winning in Lambeau is tough. The Jets are the AFC's surprise team at 6-5, and they don't have a team with a winning record on their schedule the rest of the season. That alone could keep them in the wild-card race. The talent levels of both teams are pretty even. The Packers have more to lose in this one because they have to reestablish home field advantage. Of course, the Jets could lose hopes of making the playoffs if the Packers win. That was a longshot anyway.

How does Green Bay have more to lose??

I agree. Packers at home right now are no pushover.

    I disagree.

While making the playoffs are surely a huge goal, being the necessary precursor to the main Supergoal, you can't forget that these are professional athletes on the field. They are fierce competitors and do not want to win the game any less than the Jets do.

And I don't think the home field comments in the article are unimportant. You always want to win in front of your fans on a consistent basis.

    That's all byebye

The packers are 1-4 at home. Including 2 home shutouts, and their sole win was vs. Arizona...Lambeau, Shambeau

John Clayton and most of ESPN are New York bias. Clayton and probably all ESPN don't give a shit about the Jets. How does Green Bay have more to lose? They have nothing to lose, winning against the Jets alone won't re-establish home field for them. Try beating a elite team at home and get to the playoffs. The game this week is a must must win for the Jets.

Beating the Jets,Lions, and Vikings at home won't re-establish fear in opponents coming to Green Bay.

They will just think "Hey, Green Bay won some home games against some crappers. We can beat them though."

John Clayton - Correct me if I am wrong but did he not say at the end of last season and several times since that the Jets would be the worst team in football and we would get the first pick in the 07 draft --
    yeah right --

re-establishing home field advantage in a .500 season at best for the packers means nothing. Clayton's a dumbass for that statement. It's a long shot for the Jets to get in to the playoffs yes, but this game is far more meaningful for the Jets. I really wonder who thinks this stuff up for him sometimes.

Favre plays football as a game.
If he sees a weekness in the D he will rip us apart.
Being a fan of our defense, I am hoping he won't find that opportunity.
And, this game should tell us just how good the D really is.

CLayton has been hating on the Jets all year, probably because he didn't think we'd be good and we are winning.

All the more reason for concern. That stadium will be rocking.

I was going to say the same thing, he consistently said the Jets would be the worst team in the league during training camp on his weekly Mike and Mike spot. I do not take any so called reporter seriously. Come game time, I will come up with my own conclusions.

It takes a pretty dedicated fan base to rock the stadium for a 4-7 team.

I don't know man, the Packers sell out preseason games. I remember they had that televised scrimmage on NFL Network last season and the stadium was packed.

I've said this before. Green Bay fans will show up in T-shirts for a 7AM breakfast in the parking lot in a 40 mile-an-hour blizzard even if the Packers are 3-11. If the wind-chill drops to below zero they might want to put on a sweater. They roll up the sidewalk in that town on game day. No one is around. Restaurants and stores close because there's no business. Even if they were to remain open, they'd have no help because everyone's at the stadium. Stories and anecdotes abound that even the police department goes on skeleton crew because half the police department is at the game and there's no need to patrol the streets because no one's around anyway. Besides, there's no traffic on the street because every car in town is in the parking lot.

Don't anybody underestimate what we're up against this Sunday. These people flat-out don't give a shit!

I kind of meant that as something our fan base should shoot for.
