Rich Kotite FINALLY moves out of the #1 spot, after holding it for 24 years. Congrats Rich!!! 1. Adam Gase 2. Rich Kotite 3. Todd Bowles 4. Bruce Coslet 5. Charley Winner
Gase will only pass Kotite if we go 0-16. It's about wins and losses and he's already basically doubled up Richie's wins. I absolutely do expect to go 0-16 this year though.
Totally Disagree. Gase, (unlike Kotite) is on his way to RUINING, a Potential Franchise Quarterback. Kotite never did that. Also, the '96 Jets (1-15) were Tied or Close in TEN games at Halftime. THIS 2020 Jets team trails 21-3 at Halftime EVERY game. Kotite > Gase
I have been fan for long time. Gase and Kotite the worst by far! It is a virtual tie! One thin they both accomplished, some the worst football in NFL history! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
At least Kotite was a decent guy. He didn't strut around like he had invented football, use a HOF QB to get him a job, or brag that he's "rich as fuck." In the greater scheme of things, a decent guy who happens to be a lousy coach rates higher than a lousy coach who's also an asshole.
I disagree with the “update”. Hard to be objective if you didn’t actually see any of the 95/96 seasons. Gase already has more wins than Kotite ever did. That alone is reason enough to keep him out of the top spot for now. False as it may have been, there was at least some hope for some fans during the Gase era, even if it was only for part of 1 season. Gase has time to prove that he’s worse, unfortunately. For now, he remains a solid number 2 (pun intended).
Walton has a few decent seasons, he should not be as one of worst... esp going against gase bowles, and Kotite. Not great coach but better than them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1. Adam Gase. Most bad Jet coaches have reedeming qualities. Gase has none. 2. Lou Holtz Completely Incompetent and in over his head. 3. Eric Mangini Might have been good at X's and O's but was pyschotic and hated by his players. For a great description of his pychosis there is a wonderful article about his time as the Browns coach where he refused to let any of his coaches talk with Colt McCoy and required that Colt McCoy recieve the playbook a day after the other QBs because he did not approve of drafting McCoy who ended up starting due to injuries and was still not allowed to talk to coaches while being the starter. 4. Rich kotite. It was a dark time but still better than the 70s. 5. Al Groh He was so bad the players mutinied against him and threw him out despite a winning record. My list is populated with control freaks that do not get along with their players. Well at least 3 of them, I am a firm believer that coaching by fear to gain respect and discipline might work sometimes but generally only for a short period of time until players rebel. Earning respect is best done by treating people well and taking responsibility for ones mistakes not by being a tyrant
Kotite definitely worse than Mangini, Mangini at least got to playoffs... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kotite was the worst. Kind of funny to see Coslet on there over some of the other losers we had. He took over a 4-12 team and his teams were victims of bad drafting and key injuries. Yet he still posted 2 winning seasons out of 4 and a wildcard appearance.
You make good point, but Gase 7-9 record was a charade! Kotite 95 season, there were a lot of close games, thatwe lost. Just Gase won them last year. Quality of wins should be factored. If we factor in the measure of how bad the losses are, Gase wins over Kotite. But fair to say they are BAD coaches that should be in the WORST category. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Keep in mind people that Gase is elevated to that lofty level of worst for INTANGIBLE reasons. Dont get so hung up on won/loss record. He gets the worst for RUINING the career of potential Franchise Quarterback or at the very least Functional Quarterback (in the 14-20 range) Darnold. Also his cluelessness on how to use his personnel (Bell) and extra credit for the Crazy Eyes Press Conference.
