Studs Mehki Becton - absolutely dominant again. only allowed 1 pressure ( 0 QB hits, 0 sacks) and is in the top of the NFL in pressure rate. He's not playing just at OROTY level, he's playing at an all-pro level. very excited for his future and another great game by him Pat Elflein - We just grabbed him off waivers and he start for lewis at LG and he played really well. The whole o-line really - I wanted to point out those 2, but mcdermott our 4th OT on the depth chart thanks to injuries to edoga and fant, played very well. Mcgovern and even GVR played decent as well. Lots of clean pockets for sam Hewitt - Man he was everywhere. He recovered a fumble forced by jenkins and also forced a fumble himself. Jets D as a whole forced 4 fumbles. They were trying hard to create turnovers and make plays. He also had a sack and a FF Quinnen Williams - is playing like a top 3 IDL in the NFL along with chris jones and aaron donald. had 1.5 sacks a TFL and was just unblockable and dominant all game long wreaking havok in the backfield. Greg williams - despite 0 help from the offense, our D came out ready to play. Duds Gase - for so many reasons. for lying about gicing up playcalling, for refusing to QB sneak on 4th and 1 like always, for running gore 18 times and ty/adams a combined 3. for awful play calling. for wasting downs leaving us in 3rd and long always. many I can't wait until this idiot is fired. Darnold - was awful again. he looked better as a rookie. He looks gun shy and timid now. no confidence, playing "not to make a mistake" instead of just playing. which as we all know causes more mistakes. He can't see the field at all and isn't making anything positive happen. just negative. the offense looked better under flacco Castillo - dude you had the golden opportunity, then missed an easy FG barely longer then an XP.
The beauty of Becton is he can shut down elite edge rushers. Anyone see the day Joey Bosa had on Sunday? Yet Bects shut him down when we played him. Everyday is a good day to buy a Becton jersey.
Ha so there was a point in the game where Sam had pressure from the blindside and I was like damn Becton got beat like a drum. Replays showed it was actually Griffin who allowed the pressure, Becton basically stone walls anyone he goes up against. And this is was with reports of him needing work on his pass pro. He’s been a stud since day 1 and his progression for years to come should be very exciting.
I was worried when the Jets put Ficken on IR and activated Castillo, fearing he would kick a game-winning kick this season. He still could. I don't think I've ever been happier to see a kicker miss a kick than I was on Sunday. Hopefully, he has a few more misses in his leg this season.
Nicely done. Thank you JD for Elflein, smart move. Yesterday’s game proved to me that the “no offensive weapons excuse is wearing thin” and the spot is on incompetent coaching and a QB that is not cutting it.
I was watching the game yesterday and kept seeing Elflein, and I was thinking when did the Jets add him, and was he released, or did they trade for him? I saw after the game that Minnesota had released him earlier and the Jets had signed him. I wonder what Lewis said to Gase to get benched, de-activated?
How about my man Mims. 4 catches for 67 yards. 17 per catch. This dude has me psyched for the future.
Stud mims. He is showing he is going to be a weapon . Contested catches , yac , willing blocker, this guy can do it all.
Pretty well. In fact the NFL rookie ratings (which is basically just power rankings, ie, people opinions) Becton was not the top rated rookie OT after 8 games this season (maybe because of missed games). There were actually 5 OTs taken in the first round of the 2020 draft but only 3 rank in the top 10 rookies so far. Here are those that ranked in the top 10 and their draft position: 1. Tristen Wirfs (TB) Pick 13 (Ranked 1 overall) 2. Mekhi Becton (NYJ) Pick 11 (Ranked 5 overall) 3. Jedrick Wills (Clev) Pick 10 (Ranked 6 overall) These rankings mean next to nothing and I wouldn't trade Bects for any other linemen in the league right now. But their has been a few other big hits at tackle from this draft.
Just for a bit of context, Wirfs currently plays RT and he’s graded out the best but he’s playing an easier position relatively because he’s not playing LT, aka the QB’s blindside. But he’s still been very impressive. Becton has been a stud, there’s a reason why he’s been highly regarded as likely a franchise LT for years to come. PFF has rated him equally well in pass protection and run blocking as well. Wills has been a stud in pass protection but has struggled quite a bit in run blocking according to PFF. Still he’s also been overall a very good LT for the Browns. Only Thomas has struggled mightily. I’d rank them Becton Wirfs Wills Thomas
wirfs has been good but not as good as his grade. he's playing RT and on a really good o-line and with brady at QB who makes his line always look better because he gets rid of the ball fast. not to mention with guys like godwin, evans, gronk, oj howard, brate, etc to throw to. Becton has and without being a homer, been the best rookie lineman IMO by quite a bit.
