Cool I hope it can help

times sure have changed I'm amazed at how differently they approach head injuries than when I was growing up. We used to laugh it off and think it was part of the game. I was a lineman in high school, not even at the higher levels. Something happened one game I was dazed as fuck and then for like 2 weeks straight my head hurt, and I felt sick just from jogging let alone playing. Clearly it was a concussion but back then ya know its weird just like nobody cared or said anything about it. And I'm not talking 1960s here, I'm not that old.

Its interesting to me how cooling could help. But if what they say is true, a player could get a concussion in the 1st quarter, wear that cap for the rest of the half and be back for the 4th quarter? that would be great

I played Rugby Union many years ago and it was quite common to see someone staggering around on the pitch after a hard tackle or ruck - no helmets or padding back in my playing days.

As far as a player returning to the pitch after treatment the article does say :-

'PolarCap' works by delivering targeted cooling to the head and neck for between 45 and 60 minutes following a concussion injury.

So I doubt anyone would be allowed to play again in the same game. I think its more of a development that will get a player back to his next game in a shorter period than would normally be the case.

Seems like they could use the same tech to limit the damage of strokes as well.

Pretty interesting article. I'm a little surprised no one thought of this sooner, when the first response to just about every sports injury is to pack it with ice.

LJ, if you catch any future updates on this, please post.
