He's now retired. Feel bad for the kid. Really thought he may have been the future. Ah well. https://x.com/jordantrav13/status/1917642785009582295
Zack Rosenblatt @ZackBlatt Statement from Jordan Travis: “I gave everything I had to the rehab process but despite all my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I've been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply." Quote Zack Rosenblatt @ZackBlatt · 21m The Jets announced that Jordan Travis is retiring.
I believe that as we move along the next year or two JD is only going to look worse in hindsight. I had some hope that Travis could come back after a red shirt year but JD has now missed on Zach, Rodgers, and Travis. Meanwhile Darnold who he inherited seems to have the brightest future if the three.
Wow I thought the reason we didn't draft a QB was because they thought he was better than anything they were gonna get and that his health was improving. I'm sad for him because I'm sure this was a difficult decision but health is #1 priority. Good luck to him in his future endeavors.
Brutal. Feel so bad for the kid. Hopefully this won't impact his life outside of football. Just brutal. No wonder Mooge didn't want to comment on it.
I don't think that spot should be used for a QB. We have a starter and a back-up. Everyone else could be elevated off PS when needed. Carrying 3 QBs before was a luxury we can no longer afford.
Yeah feel bad for the kid, but given the timetable we were seeing, this isn’t really much of a surprise Unfortunately for sure
I feel for the kid but I'd like to know if the Jets checked in on him before the draft. If not they blew a chance to get Sanders, if they did and they knew he was going to retire maybe they are one of the teams that took Sanders off the draft board and want to keep it quiet so he could make the retirement announcement himself. Either way they need to come clean on this.
Eh…I don’t see this as a black mark on JD…it’s not like we used a high pick here…he gambled a fifth round pick on an injured player who he knew wouldn’t play that year. I don’t have much of a problem with this…5th round picks are probably less than 50/50 anyway… The Zach pick, yeah absolutely…as a paid professional, he SHOULD have seen through the one year success against a weak COVID impacted schedule. THAT was bad. But a 5th round gamble? Ah, I wouldn’t crucify him for that
This is a shame. I was rooting for the kid to get some reps this year and make a comeback. Oh well, this was a weak QB class anyway. Maybe next year they draft one if Fields doesn't take a step forward.
I'm more pissed at Mougey. Not drafting a QB for at least back-up/development purposes who had an outside shot of becoming a starter within 2 years is malpractice. I was giving the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe they knew Travis was going to be able to compete in camp this year.
That's really a shame. Sounds like it's been a bad recovery process and looked like a guy who had a shot in the NFL in some regard The timing is funny though, just days after the draft. I wonder how that timing came to be.
We should sign Aaron Rodgers since he's been the best qb available since the instant his last moronic team released him.
Kid would have been a first or second round pick if not for the injury. This is very sad for him. Team had to know he would not be able to play this season. Makes not drafting a QB look like a major draft faux pas. I have said all along, Sanders was worth a Round 4 shot. If not Sanders, at least somebody else. Same old, same old Jets - YECH !!!!!
For those wishing/thinking they might have taken Shedeur if they'd known Travis' status prior, there's no way he's an Aaron Glenn-type player. There are reports many teams had him off their draft board and I'd bet the Jets were one of them
