Pretty much groundhog day every game with the commentators. They talk about poor defense and how the opposing pitcher is on. Yankees seem to have such bad luck, they want you to believe, that they are running into pitchers pitching lights out every game. It's definitely not that their offense stinks. And it's not even a discussion the pitching is bad. All 3 phases.
Volpe has been pure garbage, but that home run was his best hit ball in about 3 months. Then he's back to garbage. That ground ball ate him up and then he threw the ball poorly.
Volpe is a fucking bum. Any competent organization would’ve demoted him already but the Yankees roster construction is so shitty they don’t have anyone even remotely capable of backing him up.
Good thing we traded for 2 short stops, volpe needs 2 people to keep his seat warm on the bench while he still plays short stop every inning.
Is there any sane reason why Rice isn’t the everyday catcher so Goldschmidt can be the everyday first baseman? What exactly is the benefit of running Wells out there at this point? What’s he bring to the table? He’s basically Volpe with a catchers mitt. Put the best team on the fucking field already.
The Yankees treat every single game in its own vacuum via analytics. If you’ve gone 0/4 in three straight games there’s nothing that says it’s going to continue in the 4th game because you are a .230 career hitter after all! It’s the pitfall of analytics - it ignores how a player is playing in the moment and the human element. Just like how nothing in analytics says moving a guy to a different spot in the order every fucking day will affect them negatively. I’m so confused as to when the Yankees decided to ignore the human beings that are ball players and use a computer to tell them what to do.
