I wanted Brian Flores last go around and still want him when the eventual shit-canning of AG happens...

I'm not a big McCarthy guy.

That said he did coach in Green Bay & Dallas two of the most high profile teams in all of sports. Garret coached Dallas. Both men worked for Jerry Jones a hands on owner.

So coming to NY why would it be something one of them couldn't handle?

Let’s see… We have one of the worst rosters in football and we will have fired a guy that looks terrible while trying to coach it. I’m sure we are going to attract a ton of great candidates, especially given the rich history of success and competency our franchise has.

you could absolutely make a case to fire him if this keeps up but it has to get better over the course of 12 games. Right? Even so I don’t think he’s getting fired.

We have entered the depths of hell. There’s no SB aspirations for this team for years to come. We need someone to come in and just instill a work ethic. Someone with experience who can just come in and show this organization what professionalism actually looks like. I saw so many players jogging, not playing to the whistle, and again with all the stupid penalties and a back breaking fumble. Aaron Glenn does not coach with discipline. He is not drilling down the details, and he has no identity. He needs to make a montage of every player that’s jogging and standing around and straight up look them in the faces and ask them why. Why are they so disrespectful to their coaching staff that they don’t even give full effort. It’s astonishing.

lol this thread already? Jets won’t attract a good coach. Let Glenn see this through, give him more than 5 games with one of the worst rosters in the league.

If someone who never heard of new York saw this board, they would think new York is filled with bitches.

I'm more sick is the constant whining and impatience from the fan base way more than the jets.

I don't want Aaron Glenn to be fired. I want him to quit. That would be hilariously outstanding.

Who was that hyper-fixated super detailed oriented scout guy with the way out there religious bent? I want him. Don't be fooled, though. Even Jesus can't save the Jets.

    For real.

Claiming they would be good fits here is surface level only analysis at it's worst. It's like people only want to focus in on the distant past winning seasons, while ignoring a lot of surrounding context factors going in to them mind you, and then mentally block out the utterly disgusting and spinless jellyfish coaching types those guys morphed into before being fired at the end of said coaching runs. That each lasted an extra season+ longer then they should have for all the wrong reasons.

The HC that finally comes in here to right this disaster ship needs to be somebody who rises above the surrounding dysfunction, and succeeds regardless of it's constant existence. That certainly isn't going to come from the all time greatest Jerry Jones D suckers tree of failed coaches.

We'd get the day 1 jellyfish HC (who probably would be happily fielding 5 texts a day from Brick), and which would be the whole reason they'd be getting hired in the first place. And the cycle of fail would continue.

Doesn't matter who the Jets should pursue... no good HC candidates will come to NYJ. It's foolish. Only way the Jets come back to relevance is by a lot of patience and luck.

I voted Kingsbury also but to be honest, I’d take ANY offensive coach. I do NOT want another defensive guy. Period.

For some reason my phone doesn't show me the options, but it doesn't matter. The fact that the Jets somehow hired a coach who's worse than the ones they've had previously, and are going to fire him after one year in the most likely scenario unless things improve drastically, means the Jets aren't getting anybody worth shit to come here. No one.

They are going to have to do the same thing over and over again. Hire a first-time coordinator who's dumb enough to take the job, someone who is left over after all the big names take jobs, and hope for the best. Hopefully one day they'll strike lightning. But I wouldn't be very optimistic.

Look, one and done is not a good however you slice it, but it DOES have precedent…it’s happened before and more than once.

I think both Rod Marinelli (Lions) and Hue Jackson (Raiders) were both one and done and they may have been winless (though can’t be sure on Jackson if he went winless or won one game). Anyway, it’s happened before.

I think if you go 0-17 then one and done should be a no brainer. Period. If AG wins one or two games, then Woody would have a semblance of a reason to keep him, but I would be fine moving on.

I do not want another defensive guy. Period. Not even willing to talk about it. I’d take McCarthy, Kingsbury, shit I’d take Josh McCown. We just CAN’T keep hiring rookie defensive guys. How many more fucking times do we have to pound our head against the wall for Woody to realize it?

Right there with you, no more defensive guys, especially ones who have no coaching experience. The Jets just never seem to learn.

As for the one and done thing, they will get somebody to come here but it won't be anybody with a resume. They will have to get lucky.
