I forgot to add, my original reason for posting on this thread. If I'm to understand correctly, Rob and his wife were eviscerated. I'm not sure if they'll ever disclose how many, but they were stabbed repeatedly. When I heard they were stabbed, originally, I turned to my wife and said, "This is a crime of passion and almost certainly a family member." I had no idea they had such a problem with one of their kids.
One thing I heard about the Reiner son, he said in an interview that when he was a teenager or whatever he went down a bad path with some drugs/drinking (probably weed), and the Reiners were really worried and sent him to rehab. He said he went to rehab and roomed with another guy also in the program. He said he spent (paraphrase) "120 days hearing from him every day about how good it feels to shoot heroin" and of course got into it as soon as he left the facility. that kinda freaked me out as a parent. You trust the system and think these things will help and it clearly did the opposite here. Not hating on rehab in general because I know it has helped many people but that story gave me pause. Rob Reiner himself said they "listened to people with Ph.D's on the wall instead of their son" acknowledging the mistake...
You should hate on rehab in general, and also in particular. It needs to be burned to the ground, literally. It's a legal scam, and more times than not, outright fraud with no checks and balances to speak of. They are turnstiles of bullshit, as well as purposeful turnstiles who pay addicts to recruit and solicit desperate substance abusers with insurance off streets. That's only one facet of an impenetrable machine that kills and bankrupts people without a shred of conscience and without consequences. The Feds got Christopher Bathum mostly because he became hard to ignore, but the wheels of industry - and it's an industry - grind on. Ten of them fold, ten more pop up in their place. There is a fathomless downside to these places no matter how luxurious or roach infested they are.
Every business loves returning customers. The betty ford center probably had an 80s metal tour bus stop out front .
Also saw that he was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia, and the prescriptions were making it worse
Man, can you imagine the witness list from the party they'll be calling to the stand if it goes to trial?
Let me guess: these rehab centers are set up and managed by "experts" who supposedly went through medical school where they also teach ethics, critical thinking, and how to fix health problems but instead turn to making as much money as possible by destroying lives. I'll remember that the next time I need medical care. I guess there are still good ethical doctors but you just need to spot the good ones from the bad ones.
You know it. Health care, in general, in this country is a sham and travesty. For as much innovation as there is, coming out of America, they sure do choose to shit on people instead. Mental health care...yeah, that shouldn't even be a phrase at this point. When your ENTIRE modus operandi is wrapped in one thing only, MONEY, what do you expect? There are many aspects where Capitalism is a wonderful thing but ANYTHING to do with health care is not one of them. Pharmaceuticals, medical devices, hospitals, cost of educating health professionals...the ENTIRE vertical should be basically FREE for the end user. I sit back and often wonder how so many other countries seem to get this one particular "thing" so much better than we do here in the U.S. As I ponder, the ONLY obstacle I see is money. 1st, 2nd and last. Money, money, money. The Rob Reiner situation with his kid is, literally, one in millions. So many get zero air time because, let's face it, the only thing we seem to like more, in this country, than money are our celebrities. Sickening and disgusting. I feel horrible for any family that has to go through this kind of nightmare which was soooooo avoidable at so many different levels. Disgusting.
