2 Christmas games and 2 Saturday games on tap this week. Two very important games for the Jets draft seeding. Giants versus Raiders where we will have to root for Raiders because if we lose to the Pats we will be picking 3rd. If Giants win, due to strength of schedule we will still be picking 4th. Other important game is the Steelers-Browns game in Cleveland. If by luck both Raiders and Browns win we will be picking 2nd.
Of course, the most important game for the Jets' draft positioning is their game against the Patsies, which they need to lose to not make all the rest of it moot! I would also point out that the choice between the Giants and Raiders losing is not quite so simple. While it is true that currently the Jets' strength of schedule win percentage (.539) is higher than that of the Giants (.531), which is bad for the Jets, and lower than that of the Raiders (.543), which is good for the Jets, those numbers are close enough that the order could change based on the league-wide results in weeks 17 and 18. According to ESPN's FPI, the probabilities of getting the #1 pick are 36.9% for the Giants, 36.4% for the Raiders, 24.2% for the Browns, and 2.5% for the Jets. Thus, as far as the Jets go, to quote Lloyd Christmas, "So you're telling me there's a chance!"; still, pick #4 is the most likely outcome for them according to ESPN..
Seems like one of the bigger divides in the league I can remember between the good teams and the rest of the teams. There aren’t many games the next two weeks that matter all too much. The playoffs are virtually completed decided beyond winner of the NFC South and to a lesser extent the AFC North. The Lions need the Packers to miraculously drop both games to have a chance. Tomorrow’s game features 3/6 teams playing with backup QB’s. The Broncos are jockeying for playoff position but actually playing against the Chiefs 3rd stringer.
The NFL Christmas games aren't on free tv? I can't find them. Netflix? I don't have. NFL network? I don't have. I do have Prime. It's no biggie I'll watch the NBA. Knicks just won a little while ago. The NFL's greed is just what the Dr. ordered for the NBA to keep their Christmas Day tradition going strong.
Tonight's Broncos-Chiefs game will be on Amazon prime. But Cowboys-Commanders and Lions-Vikings games will be on Netflix. NBA games are more fun than the NFL games today actually. All 3 NFL games have 3rd string QB's playing and barely zero playoff implications.
The shine wears off very quickly on the “go for every 4th down no matter what” strategy when you’re not converting and winning games.
During the broadcast Noah Eagle said Dan Campbell didn't think it was worth making it to the playoffs if you didn't have a chance to win the Superbowl. Did anybody else catch that? Seeing how awful Lions offense looks and he is the play caller one thinks he is the man of his word.
The Lions went with the classic run, run, pass against a hyper aggressive blitzing defense on 3rd down almost all game long. Goff wasn’t good but he could’ve been better with better play calling. His one INT over the middle to ARSB was egregious because it was a bad throw. This game definitely helped to highlight what it means to have a bad play caller and a QB that’s a statue on top of it. They still should’ve beaten the Vikings by a touchdown or more. Can’t help turning the ball over 6 times but the coaching staff left the QB out to dry all game long.
It may be my fault - I decided to go with the Lions for the rest of the season and post-season and they immediately became very Jetsy...
Not your fault man, I mean, it's the Lions. Reminds me a friend of mine said something similar to me in 2011 like the Jets were "poised for greatness" and then started being the Jets again.
Didn't watch any of the nfl games... F the NFL with the streaming greed on Christmas.... KNICKS game was fun though
