Right, there was no owner, there were two potential owners. That is exactly what I said. And you further strengthened this argument saying Belichick hasn't spoken to either one. Kraft swooped in weeks before Woody pulled away from Dolan and gave Belichick what he wanted. None of these billionaires have stellar reputations, including Kraft, but Belichick knew Kraft already from NE days, Kraft talked to him already and gave him everything, while the other two who knows what they would do. They were battling it out with each other at that point. Put yourself in the same situation. Kraft and Belichick fucked us, that's the long and short of it.

This is not to say if Woody were the owner he would have convinced Belichick to stay. He would probably find a way to fuck this up anyway. But I can't blame the guy for something he did not do. There is plenty to blame him since, but for this one it was more like Kraft identified the right guy and used the ownership situation to his advantage and Belichick took the great offer at hand, without caring too much that Bill was under contract to the Jets, before Woody even took over.

In that quote Belichick said he didn’t know who the owner would be but he had issues with both

Would love to know what his issues were…

I mean, yeah, clearly he was genius in that call, but would love to know what exactly he saw that turned him off

I think you are giving Belichick WAY too much credit. Kraft really deserves all the credit here. He made Belichick an offer he can't refuse. Honestly, just looking at Kraft's decisions, unlike Woody, he seems like a great owner who gets results. Even tanking for Maye proved to be brilliant. And this sucks because he owns the team in the division while we are stuck with Woody. And he makes mistakes too, but then corrects very quickly, like the Maye for Vrabel replacement. Or even how he booted Belichick himself after he failed to make play-offs for two years. 6 SBs or not, that's in the past, he needs to win NOW. Not wait for years for the ship to turn when it is obvious we don't have the right captain.

And as far as Brady, come on, this is just absolute dumb luck. He took him in the 6th round! The hope there that you might get a cheap back-up eventually, The guy became GOAT. It's not like he identified top talent - he just got lucky with a 6th round dart throw. And not just lucky, I mean he hit a jack pot. But it was luck more than anything. If you look at Belichick's record without Brady, it's pretty pedestrian actually. He is a good defensive coach who lucked into the GOAT at QB.

All these billionaires had issues, including Kraft. You don't get to that point without cutting a few throats. Kraft may have cut more than others. He didn't even talk to them. But again, he had an offer of EVERYTHING he wanted from Kraft whom he already knew very well for NE and whom he was in communications with. Kraft did the work on him. The other two were still battling it out. This was an easy call that you and I and 100 out of 100 people would make. I don't see any genius there. Yes it worked out very well, but again this was rather obvious call to make for him.

He’s a good defensive coach when Lawrence Taylor is playing for him. Otherwise, pretty mediocre.

Motherfucker’s had a horseshoe up his ass his entire career.

They are making documentaries about him, calling him a legend, etc... He got Brady in the 6th round. Dumb luck. And when Brady was already greatly diminished and old he won just the same with another team that's didn't win much before him. While Belichick's record without Brady just sucks, and this is a pretty big body of work. Still, I do think he is a good defensive coach, but very overrated. Sometimes better be lucky than good, and really that does describe Belichick the best.

Something that Belicheck did with Brady that I don’t see other Defensive HC’s doing was to really explain the mindset of a defense to Brady. They studied tons of film together and, lucky for Bill, Brady is obsessed with football IQ. If Brady started his career with one of these cookie cutter DC’s like Saleh or Glenn I don’t think he would have developed the insight that he had with Belicheck.

I am going to keep posting this as reminders to everyone- we are desperate to develop a young potential franchise QB, we have 8 picks in the first 2 rounds these next 2 years. Are you really going to sit there saying Glenn deserves to be the HC to develop those players? We will not look as attractive to a well qualified candidate as we do right now. Draft a QB and suck again next year with Glenn as HC and no one on our staff qualified to develop the kid, then what?

Yeah, if he were with some shit coach, of course not. Belichick was a solid defensive head coach. We cannot compare him to complete HC failures. He did make play-offs a couple of times even without Brady, we cannot compare him to total losers that take years to turn the ship, and even that into the iceberg. But he does not have some legendary coaching skills. He lucked into Brady in the 6th round of the draft and the rest is history. Brady then made another coach who hasn't won much look just as good, and this is when he was already old and diminished. So yeah it was a combination of a GOAT QB with a solid defensive coach.

I have heard this as an approach is to ask people that don't want Glenn fired what their confidence in him still being here in 2027 is. If you aren't pretty f'n confident he will be here in 27 then cut the cord now, why wait?

Another way to think about it is this: if you are the owner of Buffalo, Miami, NE, who want to win the division, would you prefer the Jets to keep Glenn for 2026 or try to get someone like Kubiak, Brady, McCarthy, etc? If you were a division rival and really wanted us to keep Glenn, you know what needs to be done.

Love that or just ask if they would be nervous if Glenn went to any of those teams as DC if we fire him, not even HC, just DC. If the answer is no then get him tf outta here.

i have not seen anything from aaron glenn that says this is going to get better. that said unless there is a guy who is a cant miss you cant be firing coaches after 1 year and ever expect to go anywhere. i knew after 1 year that the bug eyed fucker wasnt going to work. i still have slim amounts of hope for glenn. i say give him 1 more year unless someone prolific approaches and says i want to rebuild this team for you.

which nobody will because our owner if a fucking moron and nobody want to work with or for him that has an opportunity to do almost anything else. god i hate this organization.

woody needs to fuck off and go away. let someone who can actually run something run it. he loves these new coaches with no pedigree and it just isnt going to work at the jets. ownership is inept.
