I have been on Moore all year. Right now, the Jets are in a pretty decent position to draft him at #3, assuming the Giants don't trade out. Draft Moore. Sign a Marriota or Howell on a small contract. Hit on some other draft picks (a WR, Edge and DT). Don't go crazy in FA unless its a great deal. Save that money for 2027 and all that draft capital.
Probably need to swap with the Giants to ensure we get him, as I assume the Browns or Cardinals will be on the phone with them trying to trade up. If we get to #2, we are guaranteed one of them.
NO trade ups please. The Giants aren't going to trade with anyone. I can almost guarantee the asking price will be ridiculous. I guess we're going to find out, once and for all, about Moore and Mendoza. If my eyeballs work correctly, did I not see Indiana is playing Oregon next weekend?
Talents there, but he definitely needs more "seasoning".... NO trade ups, especially considering he's the type that'll trainwreck with the JETS
Dante on the Jets would be awful… Zack Wilson 2.0 awful. The kid has talents no doubt about. That release is sick. However, the sample size is too small and we would ruin him just like we did Wilson and Darnold by throwing him in the fire game 1.
He would need to sit an entire season. No exceptions. He's never huddled or taken a snap from under center.
Ya the jets are good at not giving a F and starting him anyways. Throw him straight in the fire just like all the others we’ve ruined
There's a growing sentiment that Moore is going to stay another year at Oregon. It makes sense on a lot of levels, he's just 20 years old, needs more development, getting paid $2M+ and going back allows him to avoid the worst franchise in the NFL with the worst history of developing Qb's.
Don't know if I agree with that. 2027 is a draft class with many more projected 1st round QB's. Why be the 4th or 5th QB taken next year when you can be the 2nd one taken this year? Also the sooner he is drafted, the sooner he can cash in on that second mega contract. Take a look at Drew Allar who was a projected 1st rounder last year, he stayed and now he will be lucky to be a 4th or 5th rounder. Moore will come out, there is too much to risk year to year by staying.
I don't actually disagree with most of what you've said above. The only caveat is he would be a lock to go to the Jets which changes everything as there's more risk in that and having your NFL career ruined vs playing it safe and staying in college and going to a better team. Sadly, the Jets are truly the worst NFL franchise (bad owner, questionable coach, crappy weather, extreme taxes) in the toughest and most polarizing media market. If I'm this (20 year old) kid's dad, I'm telling him to stay in school for 1 more year, particularly if he doesn't win a National Title. We'll see.
Yes. I like players betting on themselves but how can improve from going 2nd overall (or maybe even 1st overall)? The risk of him falling or get an injury and never see that huge paycheck are real. If he does that, he would give Oregon a huge favor and he will have to make sure to not drop in form because each draft rank is a couple million less.
Hypothetical, your son is bad/not as good next season and he is drafted in the 3rd or 4th round. What do you tell him? Sorry to have make you lose a couple million dollars? Another hypothetical, he delivers next season to the hype and the Jets are still drafting him next season because they always stink. Do you tell him to again delay his arrival to the NFL?
I know next to nothing about Moore so I’m not gonna comment on that, but aren’t the Raiders just as dysfunctional as the Jets? https://x.com/jakeasman/status/2008185414767780133?s=61
I think if he does come out he needs to sit an entire year. If he goes back to school he could potentially miss out on a bunch of money but the experience would do wonders for him.
I think it all comes down to money for these guys. They almost all do what's best for them financially. All signs point to Moore being a top 5 pick this draft so I'd think he's going to declare. Next year's draft has much more QB competition and there's always the risk he gets hurt or something.
If the Jets draft him, they need to let him sit behind a vet. I do NOT want another repeat of the Jets ruining young QBs by not giving them a chance to develop and throwing them right into the fire.
Other than Mahomes and Jordan Love, who are the last guys to sit and succeed? Or to even sit in general? And are we talking a full year? Couple games? I also throw Jordan Love out because they’ve now done that for 30 years and it’s the only franchise that has that sort of QB longevity through that many candidates. It’s just not really much of a reality any more.
I say half a year, minimum. And I'm a huge supporter of Moore. But you are right. Most prospects start right away. But Moore only has 19 starts as of now and is only 20 years old. He's different then say Caleb Williams (33), Trevor Lawerence (36), Cam Ward (57!) or even CJ Stroud (25).
