The Tale of the Tape (First 60 Games) • Completion %: Darnold (59.7%) vs Mac Jones (67.2%) • Passer Rating: Darnold (78.2) vs Mac Jones (86.1) • TD/INT Ratio: Darnold (1.14) vs Mac Jones (1.48) • 2025 Stats: Mac posted a 69.6% Comp / 13 TD / 6 INT in relief for SF. Why this makes sense for us: 1. The "Shanahan Bump": Like Darnold and Baker, Mac just spent a year getting "reprogrammed" by Kyle Shanahan. In his 8 starts this year, he looked like the guy who went to the Pro Bowl as a rookie: accurate and efficient. 2. The Price Tag: Mac is under contract for 2026 with a cap hit of only $3.98M. 3. The "Point Guard" for Garrett Wilson: We don't need "hero ball." We need a guy who can actually hit Wilson and Breece in stride. 4. Cowboys 2nd round pick gets this done and he instantly becomes the best Qb we've had in years, which isn't saying much. 5. We're not getting Mendoza, Moore may or may not declare and even if he does, the Jets should do it right for a change and allow him to sit 1-2 years and learn behind a vet.
No for me on another product of an incredibly coached QB by Shanahan, every QB he touches turns to gold and stinks elsewhere. Especially giving up a second, no chance. Plus they probably won't trade him because Purdy is always hurt.
He does cite two examples above of QBs who were good even after leaving Shanahan. 2nd still seems high. Wish we had that 3rd... but it's worth considering Also, anyone else get an off vibe with Mac Jones? He's always kinda seemed like a whiny punk. Wonder how he is in the locker room.
He's always been a whiny, cheap shot taking little bitch honestly. Still a hard no for me but I appreciate the work put in.
Fields was a similar candidate to the revitalization thing and it went terribly wrong. Mac Jones also did that against a bunch of garbage teams with a few good games against the Rams mixed in. I’m out on Mac.
I can’t ever get over him sliding trying to cleat defenders and twisting their knees when he tackles them on INT’s either. He also reminds me a lot of Alex Murdaugh’s scummy sons. Fuck that guy.
This thread isn't just about Mac Jones - The Jets need a fundamental shift in their Qb philosophy. Signing unproven, hopium reclamation projects with limited game experience and drafting just 2 Qb in the last 5 years (Wilson and Jordan Travis) is unacceptable. Losing games early, being out of the playoff race after week 8 and not having even one young Qb on the roster with upside/potential starting ability is unacceptable. The press conference, deer in the headlights after every game is getting old. This is the Jets reality EVERY year!! And they wonder why they can't get fans in the seats!!! You have teams like Miami being aggressive- they just stole Cam Miller of the Raiders practice squad, and put him on the active roster pissing the Raiders off as they are high on him as a developmental prospect. Will it work out? Probably not, but you know what 100% won't help - doing nothing all the time like the Jets. Brady Cook enuff said. I've thought about it. There is not a Qb available better than Jones. If there is then who?
Would rather go after Will Levis but agree would rather take a flyer on a young vet with experience than drafting. I have zero faith in this franchise drafting a qb yet alone this shit coaching staff who will be back next year developing one. I think every single player regressed this year including Cook from his first start until now.
No chance we give up a 2nd. Heck I wouldn’t give up our 4th or 5th rounder…. I would consider a pick swap somewhere possibly.
Levis is also under contract thru 2026. His body of work has had less consistency and highs than Mac Jones. I wouldn't hate adding him to the roster but would bate giving up a pick. 100% agree on the rest!
Would rather establish a SF style offense that is plug and play with a certain type of Qb vs installing a hero ball, running Qb where there can be no cohesiveness between Qb's. Willis is Fields V2 if he came to the Jets.
I don't disagree with the overall premise, but Mac Jones isn't that guy for me. I've seen him play enough hero ball and throw enough blatant cheap shots on Jets and non-Jets players to know he probably doesn't have the stuff and he'd be pretty hard to root for, for me at least. I don't know if that guy is out there right now for the Jets, but I know that reaching for a QB in the top of the first round in a weak year for QBs is something I've seen the Jets do a few times and I think I know the outcome. Trying to find a journeyman reclamation project is something that has been somewhat successful around the league lately, maybe the Jets will catch lightning in a bottle on complete accident, which is all they seem to be capable of doing, ever.
Agree, I'm one of the few here who thought the Jets should have kept Darnold and traded the 2nd (Wilson) to get more picks. Jones is not as talented but he's less turnover prone and likely available via trade. Darnold is a better Qb, but that ship has sailed.
Great idea just after busting on the Fields retread QB experiment ??? No way on Mac ahaha Buy a Big Mac at Macdonalds
That backup for Eagles Tanner McKee looked great in preseason and today is playing good as well. But they would never trade him to us so it’s wishful thinking. But someone would consider trading their backup to us if no QB is available in the draft. Davis Mills type etc
