Was just going to post a Del Boca Vista reference - how about Del Bistto Becco?

I like how you used EPA stat, that one of my favorite ones to measure a QB, though also not perfect of course. However you are looking at TOTAL EPA. That is a little bit misleading, because if you have a positive EPA, the more you play, the bigger your EPA. Meaning say you compare two good players. who produce identically. One played 5 games, the other 15 games. The EPA of the one that played 15 games will will about 3 times higher, because he played more. Similarly if you compare identically shit players, whoever played more will have worse EPA. To account for this, you need to look at EPA/Play. That allows you to compare players apple to apple.

And you can actually see, Fields for the 1st time in his career had a positive EPA/play last year with Tomlin/Smith. He was a plus QB last year. He improved from before, where he had a negative EPA/Play. This year, not only did he go into negative, but it was twice as bad as his non rookie Chicago seasons. And if you use EPA/Play for 2024 with min 100 snaps he is 19th in NFL. This year 34th. Big difference. PFF as you noted the difference is not as big as EPA, but also 5 spots worse. With QBR also quite a bit worse. Hence the concern for the future as far as QB development if we draft a QB, which I hope we will. I just don't see London, who developed no QBs and it seems like every QB he had got worse or failed, developing Mendoza or Moore. And which good QB coach would even come here knowing Glenn is a lame duck, likely moving family just for a year?

The way things stand I am not very optimistic. I hope Moore declares, so that we will get one of these two, but I am worried he might not even declare because he does not want to come here. And who could blame him? You want the coaches responsible for your NFL career to be London, Glenn, and Engstrand? I hope so, but again, a lot of hoping with this new regime and nothing tangible. If the second QB does not declare, and we do not come up with one, this may be the least optimism I have ever hard as a Jets fan since the 90s. At least with a QB there is something to look forward to like the Giants did with Dart. But without... we are the biggest laughingstock in the NFL as far as I can remember.

Kudos to you for changing your opinion based on evidence. Very few people are willing to admit it, even when it's absolutely obvious. Unfortunately Woody is not one of them, And Glenn is neither for that matter when it comes to what wins games in this League.

This mfer is still head coach of the Jets. I can’t believe we stick it through with this organization year in and year out. Sick

I'd expect any unemployed or underemployed NFL coach to move to the far side of hell for the opportunity to become one of the 32 head coaches in the league with the idea firmly in his mind that he can be the guy to finally turn this team around. If the guy doesn't have that attitude I'm not even taking his phone call.

So you think Morris is going to come here to be our DC because he’s Aaron Glenn’s friend as the op stated, but for the underhanded reason of getting the HC job when Glenn gets fired. Okie dokie buddy.

Just came across this and thought of your post: https://x.com/JosinaAnderson/status/2007995424549093763

"Also, entering* week 18, the #Jets were discussing potentially adding another veteran offensive coach to the staff to support offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, per league source."

So, we are changing the defensive structure completely to remove "Wilks" system. We are now adding another veteran coach to support Tanner. Maybe a new QB coach. Basically change complete structure on offense and defense ... but keep the head coach. Does Woody not remember Hackett and Downing to support him?

I mean if you need to hire a new DC and you need another offensive coach to support your OC, and you need a QB coach to change the QB support structure... Maybe what you really need is a new HC?

    Insanity.

The thing is a great coach or even a good coach knows it’s both. It’s preparation through Xs/Os that leads to better execution. Along with motivation and being there for your players so they play hard for you.

He'll be the head coach at the beginning of next season, so I'll still route for him and still have hope and try to be positive.

Thanks for posting…I read the article, but it’s nothing but meaningless fluff and nothing concrete. It just talks about intangible stuff like “leadership”…really? What leadership was there in letting your DC out to dry by saying it’s all his scheme and you have nothing to do with it when YOU ARE THE FUCKING HC. I think a leader stands up and holds others accountable and also takes accountability himself. I didn’t see that from Glenn. I didn’t hear him say shit like this is unacceptable and I’m going to work with Wilks to fix it and I’ll do whatever it takes to figure it out. Nope. I just saw a guy under fire point the finger at the very guy he hired and claimed to have full faith in. Only when the sucking continued and the pressure got higher and higher did he then turn on his guy and fire him. Not saying Wilks didn’t deserve to be fired…he most certainly did…but that whole situation didn’t speak “great leadership” to me.

There was nothing in that article that pointed out something concrete that worked that we are going to build on. It’s just bullshit intangibles that can’t be verified.

    Kingsbury leaving Washington

    Stefanski already fired by Cleveland

I’d take either guy over Glenn in a heartbeat…

And it sucks knowing that these two guys are available and we’re stuck with the “AG brand of football” for another year

Can I start a 2026-2027 Head Coaching Search thread, or is it still too soon?

81 pages and this thread just keeps on going. Shows the kind of anger there is in the Jet fanbase at the moment. Gonna open a second Aaron Glenn thread just to give this one a rest.
