I have an unfavorable opinion of Parcells. He abandoned his successors with a huge cap mess and left the franchise in general disarray because he got bored with his job.

For me, it will always be favorable. He showed me what a winning new york jets team looks like, and he showed me what playoffs feel like. Two things i hadn't experienced until he arrived.

It REALLY pissed me off how he just skipped town when Hess died. He didn't even give the new ownership a chance.

H'mm I think he was there for Woodys 1st year when AG was the coach. He left after AG resigned

yep. While it was lame that he left prematurely (and with a poor cap situation behind) He resurrected the franchise that was in the cellar of the league...for a long time.

parcells will always have my respect for that.

The media treat the guy like a "GOD".

His day has passed. What has he done without Bill Belichick? When he was with he Jets he sold the team down the drain. He brought in too many older players to "win now". If you look at his draft picks they were only average at best. Are there any All Pros among his draft picks other than CM? The salary cap was in shambles and the team was old when he left.

    He is an arrogant SOB.

I would say that he brought respect to the Jets, but I hate coaches that leave a path of destruction and turmoil and still collect the accolades years later. You should be judge on what you do and what you leave behind.

Favorable. He turned this team around from being the laughing stock of the NFL into a respectable franchise where we've been in the playoff hunt nearly every year since.

Favorable. I wasn't happy with the way things ended, but for all of the talk about the horrible situation he left the team in, they've managed to be over .500 in 5 of the 7 years since he stopped being coach, so there must have been some talent he left behind. They were also .500 or better each of this three years as coach. Compare that to eight straight years of .500 or less before he got here.

Can't wait until the Herm Edwards poll is put up. That should lead to interesting comments.

Rescued the franchise from laughingstock status. I can forgive a lot of things based on that.

Yes I guess you are to young to remember the years before BP when we really/truly the laughing stock of the league. For just bringing us back to being a decent team winning our 1st AFCE title & getting us to the AFC championship game he gets my vote

Positive vote from me. This franchise was an absolute joke in 1995 and sunk to its lowest in 1996 with ONE victory. We were pathetic and embarrassing. Parcells brought us back, we went 9-7 his first year after that horrid 1-15 season. We then had a magical 1998. His presence and personality gave the Jets credibility when they needed it most. Do I wish he stayed longer? …Yes. Do I wish he left us in a better cap situation? …Yes. With his faults, he resurrected this franchise. We needed him! Parcells will always be positive in my book.

    1. Anyone who complains that he did not win us a superbowl is just rediculous. I never remember him coming here and saying "I am going to stay until I win a superbowl".

    2. He turned around a laughing stock of a franchise and we have been respectable ever since.

    3. He handed us belicheck on a silver platter and belicheck f#(ked us. If there is anyone to feel unfavorable about look no further than belicheck.

    4. Most importantly....He gave us Tannenbaum and thus Mangini. What more could you possibly ask from a mere mortal?

Favorable, and I can't understand how people view it that way. The way I see it, he is THE reason the Jets are were they are today. We haven't reached the ultimate prize yet, but we are far more closer than where we were before Bill put this franchise in the same league as everyone else, and gained the respect for other franchises and coaches as well.

The good outweighs the bad. And he gave us Mike Tannenbaum.
