Stallworth signs! Just heard it confirmed on NFL Radio with Schein and Wilcox, that Stallworth and New England just came to terms on a new deal. hmy:
Stallworth To New England Just announced http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/10033511 Guess they arent gonna get Moss anymore
Apparently NFL.com had a clerical mistake, and Stallworth was OFFERED a deal, but has not agreed to anything.....yet. Fitz
Nfl.com just changed the headline now it says he was offered a contract, he's most likely gonna sign it anyway.
Is there a possible player the Pats could sign that wouldn't result in you all freaking out about good they've gotten? Welker and Stallworth are both WAAYYY overrated. I hope the Pats keep signing as many scrubs as possible. More contracts they'll have to hurt their salary cap next year.
It's one thing to call them overrated.. its another thing to call them "scrubs" what does that make Kenyon Coleman? Seriously.. the Pats are loading up for one last go round..
They are not going to be in cap hell. They still have 12 million with all the moves they have made. That is more then half the teams started with. This has been one of the best teams at managing the cap. You expect them to just forget how to do it? Many of you think since you are rebuilding through the draft any free agent signing is a bad one. The patriots have already been built with the draft. They are adding coggs to an established unit, and will continue to use the draft. They have 2 first round picks and 4 extra fourth round picks from Adam and others. They have 10 picks this year. They are using cap space to fill immidiate needs then will us ethe draft to add depth. Look for them to take a corner and lb first. All the new contracts are backloaded with small cap hits, they final years will never even be counted against the cap. They have players retiring to give them more cap space etc etc. Our coach is a product of this system. Calling them stupid is calling yourself stupid. We are the early patriots. Of course Dante Stallworth is overrated, he might play for the pats. Only would be a good player if he was with the jets. Pairing him with One of the greatest qb's ever, for under 2 mill a year would be a horrible move! Should have paid Branch 6 million a year to do the same thing! Everyone used to call Dion Branch overrated, and say "who is that", "what a scrub"... Now he is in Seattle making 6 million bucks a year, with three rings. Most people go on figures from uncredible sources, and do not even know how to read a nfl contract. They think the total number is what the player is getting. They also do not understand backloading a contract. The player will never see the end of the contract where all the big figures are. They will never actually hit the cap. I have heard people on here call the Thomas move a bad one, laughable at best. All those big winners lists that have the jets trade for tj on them, had the acusition of Thomas on them before. Joey Porter is making more money then Thomas. Who could have gotten 10 mill a year from SF by the way. You think this offseason market is high? Wait until the jets are in the pats shoes and need a free agent. After the core of this team is built. Wait until the cap increases. When that happens all these deals are not going to look so big anymore. Here are the current cap figures (unofficial) http://www.patscap.com/ The 12 million figure is however accurate.
Bingo!! I can see the Pats playing in and even winning the SB this year, possibly, but this just seems too much to me like BB is shooting for the big one a last time before he heads for the hills, and then the arrogance that has been instilled in a large portion of the Pats fanbase will be welcomed back to Shitsville, USA. But you never know, maybe they'll land Pete Carroll on the other side.
6 years 32 million, 11 million gauranteed... That was the rumor. Good pick up for them if it happens. They should have just paid Branch the 6 million a year, instead of giving Stallworth 1.8 mill to do the same thing (sarcasm). Not to mention Stallworth is legit deep threat. He will be very good paired with Brady.
