haha same, one of my best friends. same boat. we watch cowboys/jets games together if theyre not on at the same time. so i saw at least 12 of them this year.

hes not an amazing run blocker, but good. but his pass protection is amazing. he had one bad game against strahan, and then shut down julius peppers the next week.

hed be a very good pickup and is a necessity unless we want someone elses trash or yet another rookie to be starting next yr.

what are the chances Blalock is still around for our pick?

the reason i ask is because the article says if the Cowboys re-sign Columbo, they'll want to move Davis to Guard, and therefore they'll pass on Blalock, who several mocks have Dallas selecting.

so if Dallas retains Columbo, then maybe we take Blalock (though everyone says G's aren't first-rounders). or we lure Columbo and then try to upgrade at G.

if we don't sign Columbo, then we have adjacent positions to upgrade on the OL -- RG and RT. seems like a sticky situation.

    cheers

Blaylock's most likely there at #25, but he proved in the senior bowl that he's a Guard, not a Tackle.

The Jets should absolutely go at least another year or 2 on this deal. just go 3 years $12 million and see if he bites. That's still a reasonable price and is a better offer than they're giving to him.

I think we really only have to throw in the old car, a Cuban cigar, and a whithered Bassett Hound and we would have a deal.

so whether Cowboy fans want a player or not is now the criteria the Jets should use to determine which players they want?

I think the point he was trying to make is that these opinions are coming from people who have seen him play, which is a more valid opinion than that of someone who has not seen him play. Weve heard his name enough to know that the Jets are at least interested in the guy, so Im not sure what your point is

We can definately match that contract, the question is do we want to. I heard he isn't exactly a road grader type RT, is he worth paying if he doesn't fit what we're looking for?

He has overcome a serious knee injury, but that still scares me. That knee will never be the same, so I wouldn't get into some bidding war for him. And I'm sorry, in my eyes he didn't play that much better than Clement did last year. I wouldn't mind if we pick him up, but I'm not overpaying for him.....

its only a bidding war if you make a second offer......IMO, one of the common mistakes of anyone in the business of contract negotiations in sports is the acceptance of a "bidding war"

as a GM of any sports franchise you have to lay out what you think the player is worth in dollars and offer up.....if another team comes along and raises the bar, so be it.....on to plan B.

it appears that is the style of tannenbaum and the jets.

When numbers like 2 years at 7 million are being thrown around I wouldn't call that "overpaying". ESPECIALLY in a market where being a mediocre tackle (Jonas Jennings) can get 6 years at rediculous money. I have faith in our front office, if they do have interest, they'll offer what they think he's worth and move on if it doesn't work out.

Look at how upset we were at losing Clement vs. how upset cowgirl fans are at losing columbo...nuff said

    Dallas Morning News

    Cowboys Blog:

    March 7, 2007
    Little free agent news
Ok, not much is going on today with the Marc Colombo talks.
He could re-sign tonight, tommorrow, next week or maybe never.

There's a certain point where the Cowboys will tire of these talks with Colombo and move on.

For now, the team and the starting right tackle are still talking.

Colombo's agent, Ken Kremer, declined to comment on the talks with the Cowboys when we called him about ten minutes ago.

If you're worried about someone else taking Colombo away, well he has no visits scheduled with any team right now.

i'm confused. are the jets just "reportedly" interested in colombo or have they actually met with him. cause this makes it sound like he hasnt met with anyone...

I'm thinking more and more that our RT will be either Blanton, Clement or a June 1st cut. We'll probably also pick up a body in the draft or as an unsigned free agent to start grooming. Personally, not real impressed with Colombo or the other UFAs....

The Dallas Morning News has had no news that the Boys are running after Colombo or Colombo is leaving for another team

Has anyone seen any updates on this guy. Is he staying in Dallas or is he making visits to other teams? I would be feeling very good about our offense going in to camp if we added him.

Compared to the mess we entered camp with last year this will be like fielding an all-pro team.

Gonna be great not to see all the QB debate this year or RB debate or LT debate or Shotty debate or Center debate or WR Debate or RB debate .. well you get the picture.

Apparently, you prefer the inevitable RT debate, DE debate, DT debate, FB debate, and CB debate.
