A A A A A Statement from Jets Confidential By JC Staff Posted Jun 24, 2007 In Sunday's New York Daily News, guard Pete Kendall accused the Jets of leaking negative information about him to the press during his contract dispute. One example cited was a Jets Confidential story claiming that the team's brass believes Kendall is a "clubhouse lawyer." "Nobody from the New York Jets organization leaked disparaging comments about Pete Kendall to Jets Confidential during his contract dispute," said Jets Confidential publisher Dan Leberfeld. "We want to make it clear, the Jets didn't engage in a "smear" campaign against Kendall in our publication at any time."
I tend to believe this. I'd like to think the NY Jets organization doesn't need to "leak" disparaging remarks about players at any time, particularly during contract disputes. I think Kendall is losing it... and that's a shame. I really liked the guy and hoped he'd just play out his already lucrative contract with the Jets and retire with class.
I've been away for a while and had to chime in on Leberhoar. wtf is up with a press release? a halfass apology or has this dweeb been stirring the Kendall pot? sorry i can't stand leberfeld.
Kendall feels jilted bc he tried to help the team in thier cap situation but now the team won't recipracate. It is unfortunate that he and his agent agreed to what he now views as a bad deal. This is why players have agents, to protect them from these sort of negotiations. If Kendall wants to be angry at anyone, he needs to look in the mirror and then make a call to his agent.
At the end of the day he's an offensive guard. He can be replaced and 99% of the world will never notice. Unless you have HDTV you probably won't see the difference on September 9.
On the o-line, isn't guard the easiest to replace? I agree with this post. I like Kendall, but he should't think he is irreplaceable. I hope they can work something out, but I feel they will be parting ways soon.
I would think. Tackles and centers can often slide over to play guard, it's kind of the tweener position on the line.
And we have nice potential on this team to replace him... We could try Adrian Jones there, who is still young and very athletic. He still has plenty of potential. I get the feeling that this team favors athleticism in their offensive lineman... He could be a great fit... Wade Smith is a good swing guy who is also younger and very versatile.. Jacob Bender could be a long term answer, maybe not now, but in a year or so... Than again, there have been plenty of rookie OGs that start as rookies. I'm sure one of these guys could step in for Kendall...
why would the Jets even waste their time with a smear campaign??? I cant wait till we shut this guy up...
Its sad to hear some of the comments about kendall. Because of kendall I believe Chad was still standing at the end of the season. I do not like the dispute either, however stop saying kendall will be so easy to replace. He made up for alot of d'bricks and mangolds mistakes last season. And with some speculation about what dbrick will give us this year, replacing kendall is not a slam dunk. Teams get players to help them out when in Cap Hell, and then turn their backs when it is time to reciprocate. I understand his side.
I do too, but there is a right and wrong way to go about handling it. Kendall loves to talk to the media, which is nice during the season and all with his witty quotes, but a veteran shouldn't be doing it like this. Brick and Mangold won't be rookies anymore, they've been around the block once now, so I don't know that they will need Kendall as much as they did last year. But your point is well taken.
I absolutely agree with you. bESIDES THE GUY IS A TEAM CAPTAIN. HE IS SETTING A POOR EXAMPLE FOR THE KIDS! tIME FOR HIM TO GO!
so is mangini. so what do you drink? what ever it is, it's depleting brain cells. absolutely genious thinking there 227!!!
