The biggest name that was released belonged to WR-KR Tim Dwight, who had been on the Physically Unable to Perform list all summer. Dwight was beginning his second season with the Jets and is in his 10th NFL season. He was trying to come back from an injury that landed him on injured reserve last season. Others who were released: DE Darrell Adams, DT Zarnell Fitch, RB Tony Hollings, CB Rayshaun Kizer, WR Dante Ridgeway, OL Nick Smith and WR Juan Wong. That brings the Jets to 75 active roster players a day ahead of the NFL's cutdown to that number. http://www.newyorkjets.com/blog/posts/tim-dwight-seven-others-released
Dwight was cut since Stucky is probably making the team, and because there are more than enough kick returners on our team.
I'm surprised that they did not cut Matt Chatham. He is on the PUP and in case they find a guard during this week they would have the roster slot ready.
No real shockers there. Did anyone really expect Dwight to make final roster considering the depth we suddenly have at WR?
To Wong, Thanks for everything. NY Jets To be honest, i didnt know Dwight was even still on the team. i thought they cut him a while ago...
Booooooooo! Is there a bad pun of the year award? If so you have it locked up. No big names in this round unless you count Tim Dwight, who been an after thought for awhile. Getting to 53 is gonna be tough on Mangini with all the good receiver play in the preseason. Should be intresting.
I'd love to see him make it, even as #53. Has he played enough games to not be PS eligible in his career to date? 3 years service so far, no?
Normally I'd agree with you, however I think Belichik already has the Jets penciled in as a convincing win at this point. That's the only thing that's keeping me at all hopeful about that game. Overconfidence based on the Jets woes on the line could do the Pats in if the Jets get a lucky break (Justin Miller TD return off a KO?) early on. Miller is going to be on the roster for that game or is he suspended? I haven't really been watching that this TC.
