Seems that way. He is a beast! It seems every look is at J-Co, with the check down to Coles ....Any thoughts?
Mayby its just because everyone knows that Chad likes to go to Coles, so they are using more Cotch as a first option
It's like Manning has Harrison/Wayne, the number 1 WR is cleary harrison but Wayne still gets all types of catches/TDs.
I don't think we have a clear-cut #1, but Chad clearly prefers Coles... At the game, it looked like Chad even took a delay of game once because he wanted to go to Coles on 3rd and 12, and Coles had been taken out of the game.... Chad got him back in the game, and hit him for the first.... Additionally though, these WRs are so great, and it's a real shame to see their talent being wasted with a QB who can't get them the ball further than 10-12 yards downfield in time for them to make something happen with it... I like Chad... He's a great leader and a really likable guy, but we have too much talent in our WR corps for 5 rec 50 yard games like today....
It's nice to have an argument like this to make, isn't it? As much as I love Cotch, I can't even make a distinction between which one is the better receiver right now, they are both great. I think a better comparison, on a skewed talent parallel, is Ike Bruce and Torry Holt about 8 years ago in St. Louis. There was no clearcut better receiver, they were both at the top of their game, but whichever one got heavier coverage, the other got most of the attention for the game. Cotch and Coles are different kinds of receivers with great skills on both sides.
cotch are a lot closer to 1a and 1b than opposing two cbs are. that means that our wrs generally present a very tough challenge for cbs. the #1 cb usually gets coles, leaving a great mismatch for cotch and whatever scrub he has to toy with. and thats the truth!
Yeah, I think it's a combination of Coles get's the better DB and had really can't get him the ball down field. But you see inside the 10 Coles is close enough to run a jump route........ he dominates the Corners so easily with his speed and jumping ability, it's a shame he doesn't get those throws 40 yards down field.
Teams know that Coles is Chad's favorite receiver so they do their best to take him away thus freeing up Cotch. Once teams realise that Cotch is just as good if not better, they'll rotate the coverage accordingly.
I think we have #1a and #1b. Any week it could be one or both of them being the difference maker. Both of them have amazing skill and play though in traffic.
Exactly...or Chad Johnson/Housh...either way they compliment each other...bet your ass if Coles wasn't in there, our boy J-Co wouldn't be what he is. I love J-Co, but LC IS and will be #1 until further notice.
I don't think Cotch is ready to be a #1 by himself just yet. At the moment he has to rely on Coles being there.
