He seemed kind of sad, very timid.

He had no answers. I saw a small part of it on ESPN, they were asking about how the Jets just could not stop the run at all. He had no answer other than, when something is working, you just keep at it. The run defense is just horrid and has been for years. Please fix this Mangini, I am tired of seeing teams run it right down our throats.

He knows if the Jets collapse he is gone. He also now knows that Clemens is not a magic bullet. I really think he was praying Chad would pull his ashes out of the heap until the moment he replaced him. Now he knows he has very little time to make an impact and no idea at all how to do it. Rocky?

I wonder why he didn’t just say "what the phuck to you expect from a retard? Than would have been a bronze medal in the special NFL."???????

I think if the Jets collapse this year...he's still the coach. I think Tannenbaum and Johnson are smart enough to recognize this team needs stability. Firing the coach and bringing in another system for the players to learn shows desperation. I mean the team went 10 and six last season and made the playoffs. He'll be given another season to straighten things out.

If this losing extends into next season...I think changes will be made, that may include Tannenbaum.

Then again I maybe wrong. Woody hasn't proven to me to be a man with deep football intellect. I'm, still pissed that the Jets are building a stadium to share with the Giants. Over a billion dollars for a stadium with NO roof seems to idiotic.

I can't see them firing him, but he better get the D better soon, it has just been terrible. This offseason is crucial.

I dunno if we go 1-16 or 2-14 and Mangini sticks around (the only reason i would toss him aside is for Bill Cowher) their will be outrage....

If last off season is any indication how Tannenbaum works...this franchise is in deep sh1t.

I can agree on the free agent end, but look at the players they have drafted the last two years, not bad at all.

I just don't see Bill Cowher in the Jets future. Woody would have to pay BIG bucks and he doesn't seem like a person who pays for quality.

    See Mangini...

Does anyone think Cowher would really turn this team around?? I don't. I am really down on Mangini. He just seems not to have any type of feel for the team. 4th and 7 in OT from the 39 and he punts??? Did he realize that the entire second half they ran roughshot over us???

Anyway, am not ready to give up on Mangini. If we only win one game this year I still want him back.

i think eric will be a good coach. we need players on the front 7. our secondary is already ok, so unless we get exceptional value, our draft should be trenches and LBs.

think about it. on offense, we are good at qb, rb, wr, te, c, LT (if bender can play RT, we will be set there too)

we need guards linebackers, and DLinemen. that's it. we can talk about it forever, but until we get some talent on the dline, we will be average at best

In addition to the OT I thought the end of the last drive in regulation was handled pretty poorly as well. Use your time out on the 3rd and 2 play and call a real play rather then the rushed bullshit we saw which results in a throw away pass. Not to mention the fact that the Jets would've had 2 time outs in that situation had Mangini not pissed away another on a ridiculous challenge.

No talent on the D Line and LB???? This is a team that started the year with 4 #1 draft picks in the front seven - Ellis, Robertson, Vilma, Thomas and a #2 pick in Hobson. Barton played at a Pro-Bowl level in 04, and was injured in 05. Add in a #1 pick at CB in Revis and a player that should have been a pro-bowl player last year in Rhodes and that makes up a pretty talented defense in my eyes.

It's not a lack of talent - it is a case of the stubborn head coach continuing to employ a system that does not suit the personnel. I'm tired of teams racking up 150+ yards rushing on this team.

The definition of some one who is insane is a person who repeats the same behavior and expects different results. Sounds like our coach. Our coach is also sounding quite a bit like Kotite in his post game press conferences. This is a bad football team and it hasn't been a bad team without injuries as a reason since 1996. The bad records in 2003 and 2005 were solely due to multiple injuries.

  19. I have to agree w/ you 100% about the defensive scheme. There is NO REASON for the D to be this bad w/ this personell.

Just because players were drafted high doesn't mean they don't suck. Shaun Ellis hasn't made a goddamn play since 2004. Dewayne Robertson is an absolute joke. Thomas didn't do anything until his contract year now he's back to his old ineffectual self. 3-4 or 4-3 this defensive line is terrible terrible terrible and that's the root of all the Jets problems on defense.

My favorite play in the game today was when the Jets were shifting all the guys on the line around as Washington was getting ready to hike the ball and Robertson was off the line and rushing from an almost LB position. He gets through a gap in the line and is picked up and pushed backwards by one of the Washington RBs. Hilarious stuff.
