Im sort of getting lost in the entire lists of FA for every position, bunch of draft names for different positions etc, that i thought we could have a thread where we talk about specifics

to me absolute needs are LG and RT (thats it) that doesnt mean we are good everywhere else, but that we have NFL caliber players at every other position

we could use tones of upgrades, so put this in two categories.

if vilma can play, we dont need to upgrade ilb, bet we should upgrade olb

pouha might be something at NT, but if not NT moves up to the absolute need category

we also should upgrade a corner

lesser but still desirable upgrades: WR, DE, QB

i dont see us getting a QB so for better or for worse, i think we are set at:

    C, LT, RG, TE
    WR, WR
    QB, RB,

ILB, ILB, one OLB (one of thomas hobson barton)
    FS, CB

If you disagree, let's here it. I want to focus my analysis a little more

If you agree, lets just talk about the absolute needs in this thread and we can really focus on draft and FA

I think we're set at (meaning have to go with what we have) at SE, LT, C, RG, TE, FL, HB, QB. I think we could really use an upgrade at RG and that we'll need to replace SE fairly soon. On the offensive side of the ball we need two linemen and a few replacements and upgrades.

On the defensive side I think we're set at LCB, SS, RCB, RILB, LDE. I think unless Dyson is ready to go next year we could really use an upgrade at RCB. There's a lot of work to do on the defensive side of the ball. You can make an argument for Thomas and Barton being worth keeping, however they wouldn't be playing for a good 3-4 defense.

Speaking of draft picks, anyone know what the final take from the Skins was for the Kendall trade? I thought it was a 5th with it moving to a 4th rounder if Kendall played 80% of their offensive snaps which he clearly did. Is that right? Did we get a fourth round pick for him?

Damn 6 (you missed RT) positions won't be easy or cheap.

I would prioritize DL/OLB/OL first...but it's going to be hard to significantly upgrade 6 positions.

hmm, i wouldnt prioritize it that way, but i would probably draft that way

#1 priority to me is a LG in FA

The way I look at it we need to upgrade the OL. 1st and foremost that is the area that has plagued us since the days of Sperm. Screw this patchwork shit with UDFA and and unknowns with no proven success.

Bring in a LG like Ryan Lilja who may be overrated because he plays for the Colts but he may end up being very good and not as expensive as some of the other guys.

I'd say RT is the other position. I'm not sure how bad Max Starks knee is but he will miss the playoffs but maybe that just makes him cheaper.

    If our OL had

    Brick
    Lilja
    Mangold
    Moore
    Starks

we'd be on our way to having a good OL. Moore unforunatley was signed to an extension but maybe Bender would take is spot.

I'd also say bringing in a WR wouldn't be bad idea. Devery Henderson is a FA and would be a good fit to be the slot guy. I can't see him demanding a whole lot and he certainly wouldn't be as expensive as Bryant Johnson will be.

Kendall started the entire season, so you get the Redskins 4th round pick in 2009.
