    TGG,

I don't often make posts. I'm more of the reader type, but sitting in my dorm room at 3 a.m. in between two Mountain Dew Code Reds (aka liquid crack) and a long night ahead of me, I've decided to take a study break and put up a thread.

This post isnt necessarily relevant to all the craziness of FA but rather just a topic to see what most people think. Everyone wants to make sure we get this Kerry Rhodes deal done. Recently, I've seen many post people saying he is by far away the best player on the team. I do share the Rhodes bandwagon sentiment. I would say this guy is definetly my favorite player on the team and I'm wondering if this is what the majority of people feel at this point.

Now I know he is not the face of the team ( not saying he wont be someday) but I dont really know of anyone with something bad to say about him whether its his play, his character, any interaction with him. I met him at TC 2 years ago. He was the man. I expect Leon to get some votes, but is it safe to say Kerry Rhodes is currently the overall favorite Jet?

He's got to be. The only other real candidates are Pennington (hopefully not), Leon (meh), TJ (meh), Coles, Cotchery, Mangold, Harris, and Revis. I can't think of anyone else worthy of consideration who didn't sign in the last week.

It's got to be Rhodes. He is a gamebreaker, and if we can get some increased pass rush this year, this guy is going to finally make his first pro-bowl.

i can say he's my favorite. how could you not love a guy that plays the game the way he does.he remindes me of my former favorite player, victor green. i will admit, rhoades has much more talent then green, but both played the game lights out.

Rhodes is the kind of player we don't have on the Jets very often.

When we have good players, they tend to be tough, hard-working, 'grind-it-out and do-your-job' type of guys, who get a good reputation by making plays on a consistent basis.

Kerry Rhodes is a showman. He's your typical NFL superstar, but he's not a jerk. He's a charismatic, ball-hawking safety who is really a JOY to watch- on the field and off. He breaks on the ball better than anyone I've ever seen in green and white.... He has an incredible nose for the ball.

The Jets always have one or two studs on the team. We NEVER have a superstar.

Rhodes is a super star in the making

For me it is currently Harris, Revis and Rhodes.

What do they normally say? Offense sells tickets, defense wins games? I love the way our defense is moving. All I see is years of mediocre to good defenses at this pace.

No one Likes Neon Leon? or TJ?

    Me?
was Vilma But I can say
TJ (always liked him from FF),
    Harris (Michigan boy),
    Leon (Lil Lightning),
J-Mil... (I root for the underdawgs)

Sure I love Rhodes but It's too easy to root for the Best player on the team

Without a doubt Rhodes. Loved Vilma from his college days but he has been a shadow of himself the last two years and Rhodes has burst onto the scene.

Revis and Harris have big potential as favorites. Also like Jerricho and Brad Smith. I tend to like guys we drafted and have stayed with us over free agents.

I think Mangold and Cotchery should be added to the best player list.

    Kerry Rhodes

This guy is tremendous! Kerry Rhodes is not only an incredible athlete, but one of the most well respected Safety's in the league. I still to this day cannot believe he didn't make the Pro Bowl this year, and had a legitimate shot of making it two years ago. This guy is a playmaker...I realize that no one forced his hand in signing his contract, but the front office needs to make this right...Give him his 5yr/ $45mm contract and put this to bed. Why pay this guy $9mm per year you might ask? Why not? We're paying guards and tackles crazy money, why not pay a true Jet who has been producing for a few years now, and not moaning about what he's getting paid?

I don't think we were talking about best players, more like favorite players. But if you want to talk best Rhodes, Mangold, Leon and I would say Faneca and Jenkins are the top five.

make his first pro bowl? next year SHOULD be his third, by my count. But john lynch who is pretty much a 4th LB makes it every year.

What games did he break open last year? I like Revis and Green. I like Rhodes too, but safeties can be taken out of the game. Offenses can slot receivers, force them to cover, and never throw to them. When safeties blitz they can change things. The Jets do not do that much with Rhodes anymore. He disappeared for the first half of last season. Corners are far more important. Especially when they are responsible for the no 1 receiver. I like Harris because he does not miss tackles and he doesn't showboat. He is all business. I hate Coles. He has NEVER been a top receiver, just talked like one, and managed to get paid like one. He had a million catches one year in D.C. and one lousy TD. He is a losing player in my book. I am tired of Pennington. Like Mangold. Is there anyone else to like? Oh yes: Cotchery. You have to like him.

I am not sure I have a favorite player right now, but I would be upset if we ever had to let Rhodes go. He is one of the very best athletes on the team and very good at the position he plays; we have to keep him.

I know Coles hasn't been on the Jets his whole career, but He's my favorite Jet as of right now. So many clutch situations Coles always seems to be our man. Don't get me wrong, I love Rhodes too but just not as much

This is a very good question. I'd probably say Rhodes and Mangold are my favorites. I also like Coles, Pennington and Cotchery. I'm amazed at the maturity of Harris, Revis, and Washington as well. And I'm a huge supporter of D'Brickashaw. I really like Barton and have a lot of respect for Thomas Jones.
