Glad Chad is going to compete, IF KC is any good he should beat out CP, but ..... Dewayne deal , nearly done?? by Rich Cimini daily news sports writer
I think they still do. Their new practice facilities/headquarters are not done yet, still under construction.
Just goes to show what a team leader and class act Pennington is, he'll be there even though a lot of fans and Mangini threw him under the bus last season, the guy wants to win and does whatever needs to be done to get that to happen, thats why Penny rules.
yes i love bubba franks last year i was rooting to get him, and now we got him very good backup for baker, or maybe even starter.
New Article Not Yet Posted Sorry not to start new thread -- I have only 15 posts and without the prerequisite 50 posts, I can't start new threads. Below is interesting read and I didn't see it posted elsewhere. By Joe Caporoso | March 17th, 2008 E-mail | Print | Share The Jets voluntary workouts begin today, and there should be no shortage of new faces around the team complex. Here is a quick 10 items of Jets News, as most of the team begins to assemble in New York: 1. Tight End Bubba Franks was just signed to a 1 year deal to back-up Chris Baker. As a backup, Franks should be a good fit in New York. He is a good blocker and has always been a good red-zone target. The Jets should be one of the best short yardage teams in the league this year, with guys like Franks, Baker, Alan Faneca, Nick Mangold, and Tony Richardson opening up holes. 2. Don?t expect Laveranues Coles to show up to any of these voluntary workouts until his contract dispute is settled. From the way Mangini and Tannebaum talk about Coles, you would think a deal should be able to get done. Worst case scenario, Coles shows up for training camp in July, he has told teammates that he won?t be skipping training camp even if the dispute is ongoing. 3. Expect Chad Pennington to be there. #10?s uphill battle to win the starting quarterback job starts now, and he has indicated that he will take part in the workouts. At this stage, where else does Pennington have a better chance to start than in New York? 4. Dewayne Robertson trade talks are ongoing with Denver. The latest deal apparently has the teams swapping fourth round picks, and the Jets receiving a conditional pick in 2009. There is some speculation that he could return at defensive end next year, but the Jets likely are leaning towards finding some way to get rid of his enormous contract. 5. The Jets have reportedly shown draft interest in cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and quarterback Joe Flacco. Rodgers-Cromartie could be targeted if the Jets trade back from their #6 spot into somewhere in the 14-18 range. He would provide the Jets an excellent counterpart for Darelle Revis. Flacco is most often being placed as a 2nd round prospect. I?d be shocked to see the Jets take him at #36, because it would basically be throwing in the towel on Kellen Clemens. 6. Mike Tannenbaum was recently defending the team?s off-season moves and commented the core of the team was still made up of - Nick Mangold, D?Brickashaw Ferguson, Darrelle Revis, David Harris, Leon Washington, and Brad Smith. Who seems out of place there? Mangold, Revis, and Harris are likely future pro bowlers. Washington is a pro-bowl caliber kick return and was the team?s leading rusher in 2006. Ferguson is a solid starter. Brad Smith? Well, Brad Smith shouldn?t be counted on to be anything more than a #4 receiver and gunner on special teams. I hope Tannebaum will still consider adding another receiver through the draft. 7. Expect Ty Law to sign with the New England Patriots by the end of the week. Also, is there any reason the Jets haven?t re-signed Hank Poteat yet and David Barrett remains on the roster? 8. Justin Miller is no longer #22, instead he will now wear #21. Stacey Tutt is no longer #45 and will now wear #32?just in case you were going to purchase his jersey this year. More realistic jerseys to buy: Calvin Pace #97, Alan Faneca #66, Kris Jenkins #77. Personally, I am going to wait until the draft because I wouldn?t mind spending money on a McFadden jersey. My collection is suddenly getting very outdated and I am thinking of buying a Revis or Harris in the near future also. How outdated? Right now I have Pennington, Vilma, Martin, Santana Moss, Cotchery, Coles, and of course the worse 50 dollars I ever spent in my life?Curtis Conway (what makes it even worse is that I taped McCariens over the back after they released Conway and traded for McCariens the next year?yuck). 9. Unless the Jets draft McFadden, I am thinking they only have a shot at one primetime game this year: at New England. Beyond that, I expect all 1 and 4 PM kickoffs. 10. The Cockpit?s Updated Mock Draft - Version 2.0 1. Miami - Chris Long 2. St. Louis - Jake Long 3. Atlanta - Matt Ryan 4. Oakland - Vernon Gholston 5. Kansas City - Ryan Clady 6. NYJ - Darren McFadden 7. The Cheaters - Leodis McKlevin 8. Baltimore - Mike Jenkins 9. Bengals - Sedrick Ellis 10. Saints - Glen Dorsey
I'd take that deal with Denver in a heartbeat. If we were to trade down to 14-18 to snare Cromartie, we would get another pick, and theres going to be plenty of value for our need outside of the first rounds, like it.
Flacco wouldn't necessarily mean Clemens is done. With Flacco's mechanics, he is ready to play, but because he is from a D-1 AA school, he needs 2 years of classroom time before he thinks of starting, like Romo did. Cromartie would be nice in the mid-teens.. go find someone who wants McFadden and trade down. Who's 4th round pick? Our acquired NO 4th for their DEN 4th, fine i'll do that, but we aren't moving backwards in the draft plus giving away DRob, thats retarded. There needs to be clarity in that paragraph.
