Brady OUT.....Maroney OUT.....a quarterback that's never started a game.....at HOME.....we have FAVRE......we are HEALTHY......enthusiastic crowd. This is THE most embarrassing game in Jets history. I've never been more sickened by our team then I am right now at this moment. This was completely embarrassing and this game will be remembered forever. Horrendous loss!!
After watching them for this many years, I've just learned to let go of the disgust. There is something fundamentally wrong with this franchise; we've had different coaches, different players but a consistent result. I just don't know how else to describe it.
I've never heard truer words regarding this team. I think a lot stems from ownership not taking ownership until it's too late, or not at all. I stems from a shitty stigmatism that weighs more each year. Fuck, I'm gonna so far as to blame the uniforms. Uniforms are the same color as the field. With 2 to 4 seconds to react, get every advantage you can. Hate to say it, but there's a reason our passing game as always sucked.
I agree. The Jets showed in this game that they can play with the Patriots. The Offense will get better, Defense looked good, and the refs won't be there to help out the Pats always.
When your HOF QB throws 2 consecutive passes for a 5 yard loss, "getting better" is the understatement of the century.

I haven't looked at all the other comments besides this first one. But I would like to point out that there is an absurd and abiding myopic focus on QBs and skill players regarding the NYJs and their opponents. This game was won in the trenches. A wannabe quarterback was the best the Pats had to offer. One of OUR retreads almost had as many yards in the second half (62) as our current No. 1 had all game (70). A 33 year old back (Faulk) was the difference in this game. But the defensive line of the Pats beat our NYJ offensive line most of the time when it counted. And the offensive line of the Pats managed to hold offf our NYJ defensive line just enough. Both teams were not "sloppy" as some of the posters on TGG have mentioned. As advertised, this was a knock-down, drag-out dog fight. Our Big Uglies were beaten a few more times than there Big Uglies. The Pats are a better team than the NYJs today. We had better understand that extremely well, and do something about it. We got 6 penalties for 60 yards for the second time in two weeks. The Pats got 2 penalties, period. We had more sacks than the Pats, but they had sacks (like in the 4th Qtr) when it REALLY counted. We have a lot of work to do if we expect to have a winning season, let alone get a sniff of the post-
we were dead even in rushing yards. nearly even in passing. We have favre they have a qb that hasn't started since HS. We throw the pick..miss the FG and also fail to get it in from the what? 3? We get 1 great play and negate it next play and end up 2nd and 23 how many times? Yes..this was damn embarrassing!
i don't give a rats ass what anybody says...this falls on Schotty and Mangini..and for the people that say i'm over reacting can "fuck a duck"...because there's no way we should've lost to a team with a QB that hasn't started a game in 9 fucking years!! c'mon now.....
Yeah it was pretty F'in terrible. Mangini was smiling at 3 left in the 4th. WTF is he smiling about? I think he was punch-drunk.
I think that's a little over the top. The guys in headsets are just as much to blame for this as the guys in helmets are. Here's the difference in the game: Feely missed the easy FG Coles dropped 2, Favre threw a pick. Cotchery was OK on the PI call, and Vrabel was guilty on the late hit non-call. The biggest factors: Our 3-4 defense is shit, I will never support that scheme. Our pass pressure in not consistent. We're calling Paul Hackett/Chad Pennington offense....no spread sets, not enough chances down-field.
I think that the fact that the Pats won with a QB that hasn't started in 9 years speaks volumes about the quality of their coaching staff. They called plays and put him into positions that allowed him to do well enough to win. Our coaching staff ran three times at the goal line. I agree: we got out coached badly.
