I hope that was the reason because streetfighterjet is correct. That was a horrible play on Rhodes part and for the most part...Rhodes is not having a good season at all.

With that said....its seems a new idea the Jet coaching staff has come up with...sending guys 10 yards deep. I have never in all my life watching the game see a team attempt it and it seems to have become a fixture formation with the Jets...most of the time its linebackers blitzing 7 and 8 yards off the ball and arriving after the receiver caught the ball. Sending Rhodes from 30 yards away is a new and different approach..and should automatically fire anyone that designed such a play.

Oh, please, it was Kerry Rhodes in the Conservatory with the rope! Everybody knows that.

We collectively blew chunks for sure. Some of the coaching decisions are really driving me crazy. We should have played a lot more aggressively to compensate for mistakes. And there a lot of those. Yeccch, terrible.

That play was the least of our problems sunday. We couldnt do shit with the football even despite thomas jones running for 159 yards.

I have a real hard time believing the blitz was designed that way. It makes no sense what so ever. You don't design a blitz where the safety is reaching the LOS 3 seconds after the ball is snapped.

People blaming the D for this loss are barking up the wrong tree. We scored 13 points.

I don't have a hard time believing that at all.. Against the Cards we had a safety delay blitz with the same timing and we blitzed BOTH the safeties up the middle. And of course, it was ineffective.

I'm almost positive the blitz you're talking about, while ineffective, was not the same timing but I'll look again. I remember the play.

I dont blame our defense for the loss except for this play. It was horrible stratedgy plus Rhodes managed to pick the defender that was supposed to cover the TE. The play was a disaster.

Whats getting ridiculous...? It was a bone head play, thats obviously rooted in bone head coaching. Which is the reason we have the record we have.

Are you saying that Rhodes's decision to blitz from that far out while at the same time clipping our own defender was a good one?

no way anyone called for rhodes to blitz from that far out. on those plays the saftey is supposed to creep closer to the line before the snap. watch the replay rhodes sees the play is about to go off and is caught off guard, he attempts to still run the blitz that was called even though it was doomed to not work from that far out. now im not gonna look at this one play and say it lost the jets the game. there are a good number of things people can look at and blame the coaches for. but a player so poorly timing a blitz is not one of them.

Exactly, and while I expect fubars from our more average players, I don't expect them from our defensive super star. I expect a huge game from him this next week, I have a feeling he's beating himself up over his gaffe as well.

I agree with you except for the part about Rhodes being a superstar.

Blitzing is unnecessary, limiting, and a complication for defenders. The Jets need to apply pressure from the regular pass rushers.
That 27-yard pass to Zach Miller was the worst play of the game by the defense.
