How are the 1969 NYJ not on the list? All they did was beat the unbeatable NFL in Super Bowl 3. I hate the Pats but come on!!! From 2001 to 2004 they were one of the greatest teams of all-time the 2003 & 2004 teams could be considered the greatest team of all-time imo. Back-to-back 14-2 seasons!!!! The 2003 team went almost two months (December & January) without trailing in a game. http://www.tenmojo.com/sports/football/football_nfl_best_teams_all_time.htm
I have no problem w/ the Jets or Pats not making the list but i do have a problem w/ the list. Here's how my list would go: 10. '66 Packers 9. '83 Raiders 8. '72 Dolphins 7. '86 Giants 6. '71 Cowboys 5. '84 Niners 4. '73 Dolphins 3. '78 Steelers 2. '89 Niners 1. '85 Bears Just missed: '92 Cowboys, '75 Pitt, '69 Chiefs, '91 'Skins The Jets were 11-3 and only had to win 1 playoff game to get to the SB a game that should have been at oak but b/c of a conflict the jets played at home and won a close game. The pats have been great but a great team today cannot compare w/ a great team pre-FA.
The Patriots put together the best string of seasons in history. That really just means they were persistent though. Is Curtis Martin the best back ever because he's been good for a long time? No chance. But he's a damn good one. It's not an insult considering all the great and well rounded teams there have been. Without Tom Brady, I highly doubt the Pats win three superbowls let alone one. Having one amazing player on offense (mediocre receivers, backs AND offensive line), means that you can't be that well rounded.
10.'70 Chiefs 9. "91 Redskins 8. '83 Raiders 7. '86 Giants 6. '71 Cowboys 5.'89 Niners 4.'72 Dolphins 3. '66 Packers 2. '85 Bears 1. '79 Steelers
You all are forgetting the Browns teams that had Otto Graham at QB...They won like 4 NFL championships in a row...that to me is certainly one of the best teams of all time.
I don't see how the '85 Bears could rank anywhere but #1. NFC Divisional Playoff: won 21 - 0 vs. New York Giants NFC Championship Game: won 24 - 0 vs. Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl: won 46 - 10 at New England Patriots 10 points allowed in the entire postseason. Goes well with a 15-1 record.
It's best Super Bowl teams not best all-time. Graham and the browns came well before the SB. Winston: I wasnt' around but from all I have heard and read the '79 Steeler sare considered the "worst" of the 4 70s titles. Why do you have them as the best?
