I hope the lack of depth in the lines in this draft makes us a priority destination for all the UDFA out there. Line backers as well. we shall see. I think our front office feels we can get players for the system easily.......Bart Scott undrafted.....lets hope so.

I'll look for this thread when the draft ends. I'm sure a lot of good players will go undrafted.

I started a similar thread in the draft forum..

Jim Leonhard was also undrafted among other great ones for Baltimore.

I'm pumped to see the UDFAs they get out of a VERY talented class

So since we didn't go defensive line those udfa's that play these positions will feel they would have a greater chance in taking a spot if they came to jets camp, and also being on hardknocks won't hurt ethier.

other teams will make veteran cuts as well...Lets hope one of them is Trevor Pryce.
As for UDFA's...I'd look for secondary and DLine

  9. I was hoping Arthur Jpnes would sneak through..but he just got drafted by Balty. Forget the DL...we'll just play 11 db's.

    D Line ?

well, all in all it was a good draft I thought. Although I thought we might have gotten a little more for Leon but maybe his injury is more significant than we thought. That said, I would have liked to beef up the D line. I think we can all admit that Jason Taylor is only a stop gap and is best days are behind him. We just didn't have enough picks to cover all our needs. I though maybe we could have went for Everson Griffin who was still on the board in the second round.

we play a 3-4, not a 4-3. The significance of a DE is COMPLETELY different in those schemes.
As long as we have NT's, our DE's are generally not that important in the grand scheme of things. we have more than sufficient depth with ellis, devito, gholsten and wright...along with bringing back marque douglas or an UFDA. Devito played awesome last year..people are forgetting that

We did fine last year even with our starting elite NT injured. We can address depth in FA but also in the 2011 draft.

I guarantee right now we are drafting a DE in round 1 of next years draft. Doesn't even matter with UDFA's after this one. We will be getting one next season.

Jenkins is an elite player, ellis is a very good 3-4 end, devito played well in situations and don't close the book on douglass I think hell be back

The line is old but its very good

Rex said in his post draft press conference that they are expecting Rapati to step up for them this year and also feel (ahmen) that Gholston backing up Ellis makes them more athletic on the D-Line. I think Gholston will need to add about 10-15 lbs to his frame to hold up as a 3-4 DE.
