So the Jets rap up their off season with a flurry of moves some of them questionable. I for one don't like trading down and giving up picks as lets face it the draft is a crap shoot. The woody trade was a bad one IMHO. In any event the FO made every attempt possible to fill the numerous holes we have. I thought they should have drafted another OT as Woody want be a long term solution. A friend of mine who follows college football said that Henry is a stud and was a great pick. As for the QB pick, Ainge was a good pick. His velocity diminished due to a finger injury but most reports are that he has a very strong and accurate arm. I think this will push KC harder and hopefully make for a competitive camp. I know people are calling for CP but I just dont think he is our long term solution. Here is hoping for a great Jet season. I just hope we can build a strong team for the upcoming years.

Well we did draft OT Nate Garner and we didn't trade for Woody..I'm sure we all know that he isn't a long term solution and was never expected to be but for right now, he is a definite upgrade over what he had last year in Clement...

Oh yeah in terms of giving up picks for getting back into the first round...GB traded us 113 and a 5th rounder for 102, so essentially we traded a 2nd and 4th for a 1st and a 5th...

I really don't see where you are going with this thread, not to be mean or anything, but you stated some of the obvious and other things that were wrong..

I have no idea what you are trying to say..."Trading down and giving up picks?" Do you not like trading down and PICKING up picks or do you not like to trade up and give up picks? You have mixed two completely diffent and opposite strategies. I like the strategy of being agressive in the draft. Most of the talent is in the first round and it declines, obviously, as picks go by. So if like a player and need to trade into the first round, do it. Cuz if you stay put, you may not get a player that has as much potential. Of course you can find gems like Cotchery, Rhodes and LJ deep in the draft but how likely is that? How many times will you find a Tom Brady in the the 6th round? Hey, Ainge might be one of them. Ainge is more like CP. Good accuracy and game management, but not much arm strength. He will only get on TGG users nerve but I believe in game management, than arm strength.

Anyways, I think we had a good draft. You dont end up getting 7 starters from a draft. Thats almost realistically impossible. A draft is considered to be successful IMO when you get 3 starters OR 2 probowlers. Thats exactly what we did last yr, 2 potential future probowlers. I can't say that about this yrs draft cuz no one has seen them on the field in the NFL. I think we ended up w/ 2 starters atleast. Lowery could be a starter in a yr or two considering our need. Woody was a bad move? wow! We needed help on the OL and Woody is definately is an upgrade. I would like to see this FO draft a Jake Long type of OL in the next yrs draft cuz I agree Woody will be on a decline in his career. If we draft two OL in the next yrs draft that stay in the team for 10+yrs, I think we would'nt need to worry much about offense. OL provides time for QB. OL creates gaps in the D for RBs. Our D is very good and Im glad we worked on it in the off season AND the draft. Im glad we did'nt draft McFadden either. We really dont need an RB cuz we had other pressing needs to be looked at.

I'm guessing the english is your second language and you've never heard of an "enter" key. Outside of that, you post made perfect sense in bizzaro world.

i agree 100% with this, we go with a RB in round 1 when we need one when TJ declines.

Cant start a new thread cuz my post count is too low so I will start it here.

QB: Pennington vs Clemons: With our new and improved O:Line I think either can do a good job.Chad is gonna be accurate but not the deep threat.Clemons hasnt had enough playing time to see yet.(Take away a couple plays he may have a .500 record)Thats with a bad O:line.

RB:We are fine!TJ and LW should be more than adequate with a major upgrade in our run blocking

WR: We have a pretty nice WR corp in place.LC got over his tantrum and is signed,Cotch is as everyone knows,One of the top 6 or 7 # 2s in the game and with the addition of keller(if he pans out, which he should as a reciever).Add Baker if he knocks the bawlbaby stuff off.We are doing pretty well in this area) Hopefully we get our #3 to step up.Whether that may be our rook or B Smith or possibly Stuckey. That is a big need.

    TE:(above)

OL:Solid to say the least.Big ? is Woody but I think at RT he will do a good job.

    Defense

If Gholston is anywhere close to his potential we can move some guys around to make a top 10 front seven. With the addition of Pace& Jenkins plus Gholston I think even BT will prosper.

Dbs:Rhoades and Revis (Common we are talking to of the best up and comers in the league) If Justin Miller comes to anywhere near his potential we should be OK.Ebram is a ? but hes not terrible.

Special Teams is the last link.If we can tie this all together the outlook is not too damn bad.

I think the future looks pretty damn bright.may not come together this year,But all in all this team is looking like a possible playoff contender this year, and with some good FO work possibly contending for more next year! This is a pretty bold statement being your typical Jets fan!Havent been this excited since 2 secs before Vinny tore his ACL.Keep your chins up gang green fans, this team is in great shape to make a statement in 08.

if the draft really is a 'crap shoot', then the more times you can roll the dice, the better your odds of are of finding a 'winner'.

so trading down a few spots and picking up another 'toss or two' can be the difference maker.

    edit

or, to put it in terms you can better understand, think of the draft as internet dating. the more dates you go on the better your odds are of getting laid.

I don't think the draft is as much of a crap shoot as it used to be, there's too much money in it. If you look back at the last couple of drafts, I think you will see that better players are being found across the board than have been in previous years. And I'm talking about in later rounds too.

most here have complained about the serious jack we paid to BT and Pace.

how does BT/Pace money compare to what we paid Harris and to what we'll probably pay Ghoul this year?
