I'm extremly impressed with our D. Watching the Bears game again today I saw something I've never seen out of our guys....THEIR HAVING FUN OUT THERE. I see guys smiling and making plays and playing with passion. These are same traits I've seen in real good teams (the same stuff I saw in Pittsburghs D last year). We helg Rexy to -1 passing yards in the first half. I'm exited about this unit, minus D. Coleman (#30) Were changing our name....New York BLITZ!!!!!
haha. ok mate. I'm thinking this is the same as the New England game? I definately saw guys playing like they loved the game there
I think Coleman will be better has he gets more experienced. I'm not sure as if he can be a #1 or #2 CB, but he can be a solid NB like Mickens was.
Really too soon to say IF Jets defense has turned the corner. The fact is the that Chicago Bears offense is really bad. SEe Arizona cardinals who have a real bad defense, and when they played the bears, there defense looked like the 86 bears defense. ONly to be exposed real bad against, a real bad Raiders offense, the following week. Lets give that defense a couiple more weeks and lets see how they play.
Jonathan Vilma was on WFAN this morning about 11:30 or so. Joe Beningo was congratulating him on holding the Bears to 10 points. In fact, what he said was, "If you told me beforehand you were going to hold the Bears to 10 points, I'd have told you you guys can win the game!" And Vilma agreed... it was our offense that didn't execute. He said it was a game we should have had... he compared the game to the Browns game, just one of those games where you play well and just don't get the points on the board for whatever reason.
The nickel back position is a fundamentally different position that than a starting CB. It is not just a position for the the 3rd best cover corner. Being that providing run support is a big part of the nickel position, the player needs to be a good tackler...something Drew Coleman definitely is not. Miller seems best suited for the nickel in my opinion. However, the injuries to Barrett and Dyson have really hurt the defense by forcing Coleman and Miller into major snaps.
We still have a long way to go, but they looked good on Sunday. Made a couple of big stops. Keep it up.
Our D was great if they can keep this up and our offense can get going again then were gonna be a playoff team if the chips fall where they have to.
