I'll give it to him yesterday. He came thru in the clutch.

    A-Rod in the clutch 1-1 1 HR 2 RBI

Lets keep track of him vs. the Clutch this year. I say he's terrible in the clutch and this will either prove me right or wrong.

    4/3 A-Rod 1-1 1 HR 2 RBI
    4/5 A-Rod 0-1 2 LOB pop up to 2nd
    4/6 A-Rod 0-2. One K and one line out.
    4/7 A-Rod 1-1 1 HR 4 RBI.

    For the season

    A-Rod 2-5 2 HR 6 RBI 4 LOB

I'm not sure how I feel about him overall... but he did redeem him self at least for yesterday... That was an absolute bomb he hit in the 8th... When he gets his arms extended... holy shit

The best part is, did you see how EFFORTLESSLY he did it? When he hits those monster shots, it's always the most fluid swing I've ever seen.

I'm taking the opposite stance that Murrell is. This season is ARod's year. After some early stumbling in Spring Training, he's come on strong. He's due BIG TIME this year.

And if yesterday is any indication of his performance for the rest of the year, we're talking 45+ homers, and 120+ RBI.

    My prediction: 48HR/129RBI.

What an excellent idea. This will help you divert your attention from the Red Sox suckage. I think Arod will have an great year,i'll put 7-1 odds on that.

He's in a contract year with his opt out clause so I expect he will have a big year too. If he does though he will opt to stay and I think that will make everybody happy. Of course the playoffs, if we make them, will really be all that matters. An MVP season 2 years ago did nothing for him in NY.

 I say he still struggles in the clutch for you guys and his 40+ HR's will ultimately be meaningless  So I will man-up and take the bet. Are you still going to be around come football season?

That's because Derek Jeter's famous attitude exactly mirrors all Yankees fans' attitude.

Personal awards are nice, but nothing matters if you don't win a title.

But who is going to determine his ability in the clutch?

Quite honestly, one could make the argument either way with his performance yesterday. If that had happened in the middle of last year, everyone would be talking about ARod's home run with the Yankees ahead, and how worthless it was in the game. (And most people would forget his baserunning is what actually got them back into the game.)

So baseball must suck for you the last 6+ Years.

Too bad Yankee fans have no respect for the game itself.

They wouldn't have even been in the playoffs if it weren't for him. So to say that is ridiculous. Nobody would like to see him do well in the playoffs anymore then I would but there are 8 other starters and 4 pitchers who also do nothing every year in the playoffs and at least 2 of them (Jeter and Giambi) make over 20 million a year too. He is an easy target though so I understand it.

No, baseball conversations suck for me, since you always manage to find your way into them.

No respect for the game? Wrong. I have no respect for tool Mets fans who get their kicks just spamming the shit out of every Yankees-related thread they can, just to get a rise out of us.

But I guess it must be a lot easier to "respect the game" when you are so used to watching your team out of the race in August.

Yesterday's HR was clutch. There isn't much denying that. being ahead by 1 and hitting a 2 run HR is huge. I think we are all smart enough to know which is clutch situations and what aren't.

If we to define it, I would define it as any at bat from the 7th inning on where the Yankees are down by 3 up to leading by 3 is a clutch at bat.

I think the single and SB were much more clutch then the HR. They set up the go ahead run on Giambi's single.

Not me. I'm a Sox fan. I just hate A-Rod and think he's awful when it comes to coming thru for his team

When was the last time Jeter did nothing in the playoffs? Come on, don't call my comments ridiculous, then make one yourself.

But that actually wasn't the point I was making at all. What is a Yankees fan's attitude? The same as the Yankees players themselves. Nothing matters if you aren't the last team to win a game.

All baseball players feel the same way. Even those scrub Mets. The only difference between us, and most fans, is that we find anything less than another title as a total failure.
