LeCharles Bentley is a very good younger center. Not quite the level Maawe was, but not many centers are that good. However, I think he is looking for a big contract.

The Eagles are going to sign Bentley.

Nick Mangold will be our starting center in 2006 if the trade with Denver goes through.

Bentley is what Mawae was when we signed him. A real good young center on the up and up. If we lost Mawae I would really like to get him but it looks like Philly wants him. I agree with Buttleman though. If the trade with denver goes through we should get Mangold

And from what I had heard Mawae was all but set on going to Philly. Guess that changes things.

You see Mangold lasting until 29? 22 maybe, not 29...

I see him and Gilles taken mid first.

yeah, 29 will be tough to get him. Eslinger might be available in the 3rd. I think our 2nd round pick may be too soon for him though

Where does Eslinger fall short of being Mangold? Size, speed, hands, footwork?

he's not going to blow people off the ball, but he's very mawae like in terms of pulling. I think he'll be a good center in the right blocking scheme

I want mangold damn it, we better trade with somebody to get a mid round pick.

We should trade from the 4 spot to a mid level pick where we can get mangold.

Then we wont need to draft a QB we should just get ramsey to compete with chad if chad stays.

Doubtful. There is not a high premium on centers and guards. Try to name any that were taken early in the draft and you won't come up with many. I see them both in the second round because they are not impact positions.

    Bentley is very overrated.

Great individual blocker. If he gets his hands on someone its over, but very poor at line calls, picking up stunts, etc., which is what is most valuable in a center. I watched most of the Saints games this year and it was embarrassing how many times a guy would come untouched up the middle.

He should be moved back to guard where he started in the NFL.

Mangold may last, only because Centers aren't often drafted in R1. I can see him going, but it's not farfetched to say he'll last until 29, or even R2,#4.

    cheers

  16. Keep in mind he's still very young. It takes a center literally 2-3 years to truly master line calls.

W/ that said, As much as I love Bentley, I'd much rather have the Falcons LT. I think he could play RT if Jones doesnt workout and he'd allow us to address another need at # 4 and address the interior OL in rounds 2 and 3, where there is alot of talent in this class.

So the Jets lose Kevin Mawae AND John Abraham for an unproven college center... He better be Mike Webster....
