Welcome to the big leagues Phil!

Yankees optioned RHP Colter Bean to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Bean tossed three scoreless innings in his brief stint with the team, but heads back to Triple-A to make room on the roster for Phil Hughes. He deserves an extended look after consistently putting up excellent numbers in the minors.

Interesting. Yesterday it was reported that it was Chase Wright sent back to AA to make room for Hughes.

    Wonder which is correct.

Chase got sent down when Matsui came off the DL.

    New York Yankees
Activated OF Hideki Matsui from the 15-day disabled list and optioned LHP Chase Wright to Double-A Trenton.

So wait a sec. This kid pitches well in his first start at the Stadium, then gets roughed up for one inning, by one of the best lineups in baseball, and they send him down to make room for an outfielder?

Even though Kevin Thompson just stares wide-eyed at pitches like he's got no clue why they are coming near him?

And then we send down a reliever to make room for a starter? Yup, this makes so much sense.

Man, this team makes me scratch my head far too often.
